Better late than never, I guess.

CCP is working in the background to eradicate down time, and this is great news, even if there are many steps remaining...

"Today we did the first #eveonline patch outside the downtime period and without a server reboot. Always improving! "

It never ceases to amaze me how people interpret things. "Today we patched outside of downtime" =/= "we're getting rid of downtime." If they were getting rid of downtime they'd say, "we're getting rid of downtime." I don't know, maybe they are, but because they haven't said so explicitly, neither do you.

I know all this sounds kind of trivial, but this is exactly the reason science denial exists - people who 'reinterpret' things or derive a meaning from them that doesn't exist based on what they think the words mean, or by adding their own to give it a new meaning that it never had, or whatever.

Weren't you meant to be quitting and never coming back? I seem to remember a giant threadought in which you had a hissy fit and said you would be quitting eve for good. lol

Let's pretend for a second that you're not trying to dodge my point, which you are, but we'll pretend you're not. The 'hissy fit' never happened, and there's a difference between 'banning CCP from my money for a month' and 'quitting forever'. I made it quite plain I was doing the former.

Maybe you should try taking a break yourself, it seems like you need it. Although I'm not sure how long it takes to untwist panties but, take all the time you need.

I'll look after your stuff.

He's just a terrible troll who constantly likes to 'refine' what he's said, because he's not very good at it.

No refining necessary. I knew what post she was talking about, and I never tried to hide it. That's not a hissy fit, and the only people calling that a hissy fit are people that can't argue against my points and need to bring irrelevant information up and use it as personal attacks. That, or they already don't like me, and I don't really care whether you like me or not. So, let's pretend it was a hissy fit and you got me.

What's your point? What makes it relevant here? And why should I care?

If people really find being away from eve for 30 mins is that big of a problem then you really need to get out more and explore the outside world because it's a wonderful place

CCP have stated on many occasions that their goal is to eradicate the daily downtime completely. I'm not sure which part of that is so difficult to understand.

Probably the part where nothing about patching outside of downtime is mentioned, and the part where non-downtime patching does not correlate with the removal of downtime, since downtime isn't caused by patching.

Yes, they're trying to remove downtime, but that still doesn't mean you can infer that goal from this feat.

You can't eliminate latency. Signals do not travel instantly and no matter how short the time may be it always takes time for a computer to perform any function.

Unless you intend for CCP to invent quantum computers, faster than light telecommunications and precognizant software then implement those technologies on a global scale you're always going to have to contend with lag.

Yes we are improving from hamsters to wallabies, more energy and harder to burn out. As an offer to CCP, i can organise a dozen wallabies to be shipped to replaced those outdated hamsters you use...get with the times!!

Tip said what I was gonna, but used different words this time.

My words were going to be, "today I ate a sandwich, therefore I'm obviously trying to get fat."

Our lag Downunder is so bad we sometimes miss DT between server pings.

I like DT, as it reminds me that its dinner time... and that I need to interact with the non eve people in the house.

You mean you can speak to people who don't play eve??? I always believed that they could never comprehend the level of complexity required to play this game and thus were just shadows to ignore.

Switching from Hamsters to Wallabies would require a complete rework of server infrastructure as the wheel size is completely different... unless you are planning on genetically engineering a Hamster-sized Wallaby.. in which case your plan might have merit... as well as a side effect of changing the 'first time pet" meta.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

But, but, think of the hamsters.

Seriously, 15 minutes of downtime per day isn't really THAT bad. If they can eliminate it, or reduce it to once a week it would make things a bit more interesting from a strategic standpoint. No more lo/null crossing just before/after DT. Yarrrr
