Which blockade runner?

I know that Viator is the most popular blockade runner, but that's most likely caused by times when also Iteron Mark V and Obelisk needed Gallente Industrial V, so people were hitting three flies with one swing.
Is Viator still the blockade runner to train for? Does that depend on the intended purpose (mine will be doing industry in cheap lowsec stations)? Should I put cargo, agility or warp speed rigs on it? Please let me know before I start a 16 day skill training :)

Workarounds are not bugfixes.

It depends. Differences are marginal. Look up in this subforum, it was discussed in detail.
But overall cargohold in BRs is rather small for general industry. You will be pressed into manufacturing low vol. high cost items or make lots of trips. Take a look at DST, they do decent LS hauling. Or consider the indy 1-3 of the ship as 'free' SP in route for preffered JF.

The viator was considered the best for low sec when i was training for BR because it had an agility advantage. Use cargo rigs. Then you can use agility/cargo in lows as situation warrants.

I think the difference between BR's is less now that they all have two high slots.

You might also consider what other ships you might be interested in that will be affected by which BR faction you train.

I'd still go with Viator since currently most of the specialized T1 industrials are Gallente (Miasmos, Kryos, and Epithal)

Spot on.
Avoid the pain of cross training when you finally click Gallente get all the specialisations that are any use.

So decide:
Gallente to haul Ore, Minerlas or PI commodities

Minmatar to haul: umm, ammo etc - the most unused ship in new eden - might as well just use a Gallente generic hauler.

Amarr: ^ go Gallente.

Caldari: see Amarr.

I was looking looking at these a month or so back and needed something that could carry 8k m3 in one run and the Viator was still the best option then.

If you're hauling 10k and under then honestly any of the BRs are fine if you factor out what others ships comes with training a particular racial Indy to V. However if you need more space DSTs are becoming a great option for a massive amount of cargo combined with being extremely hard to catch in lowsec. I've been flying an Impel through frequently camped lowsec space and nothing has been able to catch me, it can fit enough agility and MWD + Cloak to do the mwdcloaky trick, 2 built in stabs with another extra 3 in the lows, and almost 60km3.

The differences are marginal to my way of thinking. I would just go for the one that requires the least amount of training time.
