I have no idea what Potato Mode is, but it makes me think of GLADoS from Portal.

I believe OP is referring to "all settings to minimum" mode for those people who are still trying to play EVE on potatoes rather than proper, at least semi-modern computers.

Exactly. However, if you would kindly specify how many "semi-modern" quantum mass effect warp core fields I need to run EVE during one of those massive fleet battles without crapping out, that would be nice. Big smile

edit for clarity: when there are enough drones on grid to literally blot out the entirety of both fleets, that's when you need potato mode macro button so you can have a reasonable expectation to achieve double digit frame rates.

It's an exponential thing. During a mega battle, you are not looking at shiny pixels. You are far too busy keeping up with broadcasts and module activations and drone assignments to even think about anything else. That's a fact. Burdened hardware measurably limit your effectiveness in that case. That, in turn, creates an undue handicap to less-than-cutting-edge equipped people. You must know that is true. Hence, the potato mode shortcut.

A shortcut you can hit to turn the graphics to low, low, low and low etc. Disable effects etc. All of it. It's potato mode. Hit the shortcut again to return to normal configuration. It beats going into the ESC menu, flipping through tabs, click many checkboxes, flipping several pop out menus. hit apply here and there. meh. Potato macro. One hit wonder plz.

It knows what you think.

I think the thing he is really asking for is an on/off switch or a potato/user settings switch for when large fleet battles occur to increase frame rates during said battles.

Have you ever actually eaten a beet? Or tried to?

I would never use this (I live in wormholes where big fleet counts as you know 12 on 12 to maybe 20 on 20) but i do feel the idea has merit.

+1 Supported

@Rowells, beats our FOUL if you need a red food product in your diet go Red Cabbage, or Tomatos... Hell red food dye is better then beets, atleast then you (supposedly) get hyper...

OH! So it's not a cynical robot woman sarcastically making fun of me about my weight while I play EVE?

Or does a wife already count for that? =P

Regardless +1 I run a few alts and if I have too many run at once it'll crash EVE for me. So being able to switch between graphical settings quickly would be nice.
