So many uninformed people trying to sell characters.
http://gemblog.nl/skill/ is pretty close give or take 15% or so.
Seeing >20M sp toons on there so 15+B and no offers.
Well the reason why is you think you are selling a character made of gold.

I am not sure if it's a few people trying to manipulate character prices or just people are dumb.
Either way some of those characters will never sell for what they are asking.

A website giving you a number based on their own calculations isn't what a character is worth. A character is worth whatever someone else is willing to pay for it.

Right and go shop the character baz and see how many character are going without offers.
"what someone is willing to pay for it" can be applied to anything in this world but it doe not increase the value.
Everything has a value and lots of the current post are over valued.

If i buy a 20M sp toon at 16B isk it does not make it worth 16B isk on an open market just makes me an idiot for paying that kind of ISK for that kind of character.

Do not know what you put in there but I just checked 6 character sheets between 100M-140M SP and (including my own) and nothing came back at under 30B ISK With one character who was at about 180M sp coming in at 65B give or take the 15% I said that would put it at 75B give or take.

So I wasn't wrong. It is solid guide line. On top of that the site even points you to a real life appraiser.

I'm agreeing with you, gemblog is all you need to do profitable character trading.

If enough "idiots" are paying 16B for 20M skillpoints, there comes a point where you have to ask yourself, is everyone else the idiot or is there another common factor?

Why do you care and how does it affect you if an incorrectly priced character does or doesn't sell? How does it warrant a thread?

Also, there are so many characters in the 20M SP range that have a far, far greater value than many 40-50M SP characters.

Well they are not selling for that price anyways.
This is more of an informative post for the people who might be wondering why they are not selling.

- Links to EVE have changed years ago, yet the site still uses the old ones;
- Legacy API keys?
- The link to a price check service by character named Durantis is for the old forums. The last activity of that character on the new forums was in 2012;

I used it in the past and it was a pretty decent tool, but it certainly looks like it's dead for at least two years.

I been offered 25b for my char.

94+m sp.

imo a properly skilled char is worth its weight in plex's per month old it is plus any skills injected and or implants...
I am some 50 months old now. so does that make me 40b isk worth?? not really but I would not say no in a hurry if offered.

my char is well over

That's a great place for low-ballers to link to when trying to grab characters cheap. Other than that, it's inaccurate, way out of date and doesn't come close to reflecting actual character values.

That said. Characters have never been cheaper than lately. There's a run on people dumping alts and if you are thinking that you might ever need a character from the bazaar then now is the time to get one. Most are pretty bad but there are a few gems in there that don't command the premium prices of a well focused specialist character.

This may soon change as it seems that PLEX has come down in price and appears to be stabilizing. People may start hoarding alts again, so buy while they're cheap.

Damn near everyone in this thread is just trolling the OP for trolling's sake, I suppose. I've been into buying and selling characters for a good little while now, and I can tell you the same thing the OP has said; basically if you have been checking the character bazaar a few times a day, every day, you too would know that the OP is correct. I see countless toons the likes of which I had bought in the last month or two for 3, maybe 3.5B being offered for 8B and up. It's ridiculous, and it's to the point now that some of the would-be sellers don't even respond in their own thread when offers have been made. I guess that's the F-You way of saying "sorry not interested."

They may never sell, that's the risk a seller takes. Then they will have to consider a lower price. You could always make them a lower offer.

Manipulating character prices? Don't see why not, enough manipulation goes on in the in-game market.

character prices are largely plex prices as it equals 1 months training time,the valuation on the web page is based on plex prices from 2 years ago when they were at about 400mill for each plex so the valuations are horribly wrong at todays plex prices.

Presuming that the character has at least a sensible array of skills (exactly what you want is preferred of course but you rarely find exactly what you want) and up to about 50 million SPs anything less than 2 Plex +1 Plex/1.9million SPs is lowballing.

Forum alt calls others dumb because he wants to buy cheap characters Lol

Plex prices go up -> character prices go up, its easy as that.
Sure everyone wants to make a good bargin when buying but if you want to manipulate others into selling low you shouldn't make it so obvious Blink
