New Transport Ships

Here are a few transport ships that would be interesting to see implemented... As it stands right now you can carry stuff around. But not People the way it would work is like a normal contract only you can contract your self or you jump clone to be transported with the same kind of collateral / payment as normal freight. However a pod cant be carried like normal freight. (I will get to that in a minute) The other change that would need to be made is transport ships should show their total bounty when examined (pilot + passengers) Leaving the station you make the contract in cancels the contract.

Ships: (i am going to express these as a standard, each race would vary somewhat)

Standard Taxi (under Shuttle)
Skills Required: (race) Industrial I
Improved Velocity 5% Per-Industry level.
Cargo 400m/3
EHP 1000
Pod Hangar: 1 (pod)
500m/s speed
5 AU/s
Align Time - Fast

Tech 2 Taxi: Interceptor Class
Skills Required: (race) Industrial V
Immune to all forms of warp disruption.
Cargo 400m/3
EHP 1200
Pod Hangar: 1 (pod)
600m/s speed
7 AU/s
Align Time - Fast

Tech 2 Taxi: Covert Ops
Skills Required: (race) Industrial V
Can fit Cov Ops Cloak

Jump Freighter Buss Version

Ship Maintenance Bay. 1,000,000 m/3*

EHP: 200,000

Align Time - Slow

*Ships in these bays must have no cargo, rigs, fittings, and drones only.

Slots and fitting would all need to be tested... The smaller ships are good for getting individuals, alts, friends around fast. If you log on and are a passenger, or are logged on as a passenger you can eject your pod at any time (This act however pays out the contract even though you did not reach the destination), if you leave a ship with them... well don't... or contract it separately. The larger ships are like ferries that can take passengers and ships.

As soon as someone from ISD has time they will move it. Keep in mind the local Features and Ideas discussion members are mean people.

That said, many of your ships suggestions are way to over powered. Immune to all types of warp disruption = redicuosly overpowered. 10,000,000m3 ship bay means the ship could never enter high sec and is way way way way to large.

One of the worst ideas I've seen in awhile, why would anyone pay to be moved around. First of all you could just jump clone for free, or second just auto pilot for free.

All of these ships would also be gankers dream come true.

Well if your going to be an ass.... Allow me to explain why your an idiot.

All of these are tanked the same as a an equivalent hauler/freighter. Infact I aimed to make the more tankey... So they would not be at any greater risk of ganking... Also your only a valuable gank target if you have cargo that can drop or bounty. So if you avoid bounties passengers then your literally worth nothing, and your not going to get ganked for nothing. "oh people gank for no reason on all the time" no, they don't. So none of these ships are a gankers anything come true when carrying only passengers. When carrying ships they are still no more valuable than a freighter carrying ships. The maintenance bay can only carry un-packaged ships. So a freighter carrying packaged ships is going to more than likely be worth more. Sooo again... not really a gankers dream over and above anything else already in existence.

Also a lot of these ships are targeted at moving people in and out of low/nul and if your autopiloting there your ******** (a person of low intelligence likely brought on by your mothers alcoholism)* Edit due to CCP censorship. Also jump clones are still bound to a location, this could move your jump clone for you while you do other things. Also people are laaaaaaaaaazy. People would easily pay to be moved or have a clone moved.

Since you have trouble thinking I'll recap that for you in very short sentences.

1: Pods aren't worth much without a bounty which you can check.
2: Unpackaged ships aren't worth more than normal freighters with many packaged ships.
3: People are lazy so they will pay.
4: People would rather put the risk on someone else to get them out of low/nul for collateral.
5: People still need jump clones moved.

People love popping pods. When pods can easily be over a couple bil a piece, and you're saying put multiple pods in one single ship... Yes it might mean they are literally throwing away isk for a KM with no possible drop of implants, but they do that on an hourly basis.

Actually two of my pods are worth 4-5 bill each, and the rest are few hundred mill each.

The only major drawback is the crazed notion that the inventory would look so much better if merely rearranged ONE MORE TIME.

Clearly I need to remind you that pods don't drop loot.... So they are from the perspective of ganking someone worthless. (unless there's a bounty)

But that isn't why hundreds are killed daily.

Every player on this forum knows this and podding has been the finest of sports for 11 years now. Putting your pod in someone else's hands when you can either jump clone or pilot yourself is insane.

Not to mention the exploitable nature of driving off with a busload of passengers and meeting up with your smart bomb alt to hold them all to ransom or park them up in a pos in enemy space 30 jumps away etc etc.

People don't PvP for the loot. People in eve don't gank for the loot, they do it for the fun. If one day all the JF and freighters never carried anything anymore people would still gank them because that's what some people do in this game.

People carry billions in normal freighters all the time and it doesn't stop them. Again you could make the collateral appropriate or only contract people you know... Just like freighters do now.

If your willing to use the excuse "Stupid Because it could be dangerous." to say this is a bad idea... Stop playing Eve. Everything in eve is dangerous.

To counter your examples, there's nothing to stop me from taking a contract containing a t2 bpo and keeping it.... yeah well im not sending a t2 bpo by freighter cause that would be stupid. Just like contracting your main pod with 10bil implants would be stupid, but you could still contract your low cost implant pvp jump clone to be moved, or contract your 10b pod over to your Jump-Transport alt to safely jump you somewhere.

Also balance changes could be made to further solve the problem if ccp decided its still to dangerous like make pods ejected in a crash warp to deep-space log-off status immediately.

The example wasn't about the risk, it was about the inevitable abuse. As a result new mechanisms would be needed to prevent a player controlling the ability of another to play, that goes further than losing assets. Why should ccp bother to do all this for a class of ship already made redundant by jump cloning?

Ganking pods doesn't drop loot but it can add a fat isk total to your kill board for an (insurable) price. People will gank it. I'll travel in a ceptor, jump clone, or self destruct and take the clone express thanks.
