Saw one of the Lancasters fly overhead today, accompanied by a Spitfire and a Hurricane, I've also seen a Dakota and the Red Arrows. Got the B-17 and Vulcan to look forward to over the weekend.

Today was the start of the local airshow, living on the flight path for 2 airports has its advantages :D

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Those are real beauties. Big prop planes are just somehow awe-inspiring.

Going to a local air show this weekend that will have B-17, B-24, B-25, P-47, P-40, P-51, F4U and various WWII Grummans. Looking forward to it just for the piston engines audio.

I came in here looking for something entirely different. Shocked

On a side not though....and keeping with the topic......... One of the best things i have ever gotten to do in my life was to fly in the ball-turret of a B-17 during an airshow in Arizona out of Falcon Field many many moons ago.

That

was

fantastic.

Still want to see some Su-27 and MiG-29's myself but I don't think that will ever happen here in the US. Have seen a couple of MiG-15s though.

You can ride in a B-17, B-24 or B-25 at the air show I'm going to this weekend. Only US $450 for a half hour ride. Shocked Get a flight lesson in a tandem yoke P-51 for $2,200.

My dad rode a lot of hours in an A-20 Havoc for free. It probably would have been more fun if there wasn't German 88mm flak shooting at them. Smile

As a former Warthunder player, all I could think was, "OMG, noob Lancaster pilots lawnmowing! BRING UP THE ROCKET CHAIKA!"

My grandfather flew in Lancaster's and the Vulcan as the bomber/navigator during his period in the RAF - he was also the bomber/navigator on the Mosquito during the 50's for Night Flying training operations.

Took him to see a static Vulcan at a local air museum and I could see the smile on his face as he saw the aircraft again.

Saw a B-25 fly over yesterday.

On totally different note - saw low-level pass by 3 x MV-22 Osprey and 2 x KC-130 about 10 days ago.

Neither are exactly what I expect to see being a UK resident!

Been very lucky to see Red Arrows several times over the last decade, also quite a few displays w/ Spitfires and a couple Lancaster fly-bys.

My great-uncle flew B-17's out of Cambridgeshire.

I would donate a non-specific body part for a ride in one!

The two Lancaster bombers flew right over our house on the way up to Lincoln. Pretty impressive sound from those engines I must say.
