PC Setup Advice for Multiboxing

Hello Comrades.

I seek advice on a pc build intended for eve multiboxing cilents (at the most 6ish)

this would be my first pc build, before its all online ordered or store bought and I am not as computer savvy as most in this game so this is why I come to you for ideas.

I've done a little reading on multiboxing setups that others have had, and this is my idea. please give input if you see a major flaw in the plan:

: Intel® Core™ i7-4790K 4.0 GHz 8MB Intel Smart Cache LGA1150
: ASUS MAXIMUS VII RANGER ATX w / Intel GbLAN, 3 PCIe x16, 3 PCIe x1, 1x M.2, 6x SATA 6Gb/s
: G.SKILL 32GB (8GBx4) DDR3/1866MHz Dual Channel Memory
: EVGA Superclocked NVIDIA GeForce GT 740 4GB GDDR3 PCIe 3.0 x16 Video Card (Dual Card, Non-SLI)
: 240GB Intel 530 Series SATA-III 6.0Gb/s SSD - 540MB/s Read & 490MB/s Write + 2 TB Seagate Mechanical Harddrive for basic data

From my reading its very important to have enough ram and a good motherboard to facilitate the transfer of data between all parts, will this work with the dual video cards?

I am grateful for any input here since most of my pc knowledge comes from reading other people talk on forums Ugh

or if you multibox and could share your proven setup I would appreciate too :D

Well the new 2011-3 socket has been released. But it's expensive. What sort of budget are you on and what website do you use?

I was trying to use that pcpartspicker website to find the best deals on price, I would like to keep this under 2000.00 USD

For just eve, even multiboxing thats is super over kill.

Before i upgraded, which cost me a whopping $400 maybe 500 or so, my first generation i5 about 6 years old, with 4 gigs of ram, an ATI XT800 card which i thing had 512 DDR2, maybe 1GB DDR2 could play 4 accounts with no issues at all, 5 i started having some choking. But seriously if you drop eve to the lowest setting it uses barley anything.

My current 6 core AMD, with 16gb rand and a radio R9 plays 5 accounts with no problems

OMG Comet Mining idea!!! Comet Mining!

Oh wow lol I didnt realize my setup idea was overkill, in the past on lower grade pcs ive bought ive noticed that I can easily box like 2-3 characters when I drop the settings low (doesn't bother me, I don't listen to the sound effects and perfect little explosion animations are not highly valued).

Thank you for your input and sharing your setup!

They wont be able to run on max graphics. But it will be able to run all 5-6 accounts easily on low.

With that being said, do you think I could reduce myself down to one graphics card instead of two and still run ok on low?

One of my 4 computers is a bare bones dual core G620 with 8GB ram and a okay video card Radeon HD 6670. I can put 6 clients on it with lower settings easily enough.

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

Had to end sometime.

^^This.

I don't know what 740s go for these days, but I'd say that you should probably go with a single 760 instead of dual 740s. It will cover your needs just fine and should you at some point in the future need more oomph, you can just add a second card and not have to throw out what you bought previously.

The 740 is a major flaw. Go for a 760 and dial down the CPU a bit if you are on a budget, or just go AMD for the CPU as it's far better Price:Performance.

Because the Legacy Code has too much Psssssssssssssssh, nothing will ever get fixed until CCP stop wasting money on failed sparkle MMOs and instead rewrite the entire backend of EvE from scratch.

I don't know Nvidia that well but the 740 is on the lower end. I would also recommend a 760.

This, in my experience, unless you doing heavy video editing or rendering, you will really not notice a huge difference between comparable AMD and Intel processors.

Why stop at 6 accounts when you could use nearly 50?

I have
Mobo: ASUS P8-Z77 -v le
CPU: i7-3770k @ 4.4GHz Voltage: 1.115 (I down clock it to 3.7GHz Voltage: 1.050 when I multi box, it saves me 20c in heat.)
GPU: GTX 550 Ti @ 950MHz
Ram: Kingston 16 GB (8-0-8-0) 1600Mhz
HDD: Quantum Fireball + Some other 750GB HDD i cannot recall.
Screen(s): 1x 1600x900 Some random screen I bought a long ass time ago.

What it can run: 15 Accounts with all settings on low, with no lag issues.
Your system will have ZERO problem running at least this many. Just keep in mind, Eve is single threaded. You want to assign each client to a single core if you stack all the clients into a single thread there will be system lag. My setup was 1-2-2-2-2-2-2-2
Though [3][4][4][4] also works too.

Eve has two bottle necks. Ram, and CPU threads. Ram is 1gb per client for things to run smoothly, and requires 1 core per client. Eve does NOT Hyper-thread.

Never ever buy a gpu for gaming thats below a 50. Get a 760 or something.

I purchased a new PC earlier this year, including 32GB RAM. Not until I got it up and working did I realize only 16GB RAM will be used by Windows 7 unless you buy one of the more expensive "editions," maybe pro or something? The regular one is not using half my RAM, which made me feel pretty stupid.

I run 5 Eve clients, one on max settings and the others turned down a bit, with no problems; even though only 16GB RAM "works." My video card is nvidia GTX 780.

Enjoy your build. o7

A i5 4590 would be more then enough.
You'll need 16GB of RAM. (Each client on my PC uses about 7-750MB)
If settings are on high with multiple monitors, the best GPU you can get your hands on!

Here's a rundown of CPUs
i3 - typical home/office use.
i5 - gaming
i7 - video editing/rendering/heavy use applications.
AMD - poor mans CPU....******

Since people are sharing specs.

i5 4590
Asus Z97-K
16GB Kingston HyperX
R9 290
Misc SSD/HDD

I can run 4 clients (one in Duality) at once, Stream 1080p video, unknown amount of Firefox tabs and Guild Wars 2. All games at max, 3 monitors, no lag between anything! I usually get 100-125 FPS on all EVE clients and 65-70 on GW2 doing all that at once!
