Eve would've been even more awesome had CCP just stuck to something they know they're good at.

Well, you are wrong.

CCP have been generally doing a cackhanded job for a long time now.

To paraphrase Ben Crowshaw: And if you think [CCP are doing a good job], you're wrong. It's like saying you enjoyed listening to someone singing completely out of tune or reading a book whose pages are completely covered in brown sauce. I know it's your opinion, but your opinion is just wrong.

The lust for greed in this new rich company can cause problems in the future. Perhaps my advice to them is to slow it down a bit and focus on its main game and definitely get a grip of that horrible customer service.

Other than that, they are doing good.

I would have given CCP an 8/10 if it wasn't for this latest fiasco with w-space and how its denizens were treated. Being blatantly ignored tends to leave a deep wound within a player demographic that will fester for a long time.

Whenever something is changed, some people just love to cry about it. Other (more succesfull) people, just adopt and continue. I think in general CCP is doing ok. There is always room for improvements and they do make mistakes, but that could be because they are humans.

Threads on these forums and on outside web sites have been reporting quite a bit on CCP employees leaving for other companies. There was also a lot of talk regarding the whole "World of Darkness" fiasco.

Granted, I would have liked to seen WOD come to fruition and I would agree that it is possible that CCP completely bungled that whole deal.

However, it seems like they are turning their focus on what they know how to do well, that is internet spaceships. Valkyrie is probably going to be super ******* awesome and one of the first games for Occulus Rift, Legion is going to get a lot of players instantly. Frankly I think the PC crowd will hold much more interest in the dynamics of that game than the console crowd which is already playing Halo 8 or whatever.

They also seem to be turning focus on to Eve more now with the departure of WOD. Someone made a thread about Eve 2.0 the other day, which is ridiculous; we are already on roughly Eve 5.0. This has to be the most updated and constantly improved game ever made with much of that improvement and expansion based on player input.

Lastly, there is no competition for this game. There have been few games since the original Starcraft that have taken different races and had them pvp and found balance. Think of the incredible variety in this game (I know the Ishtar is a bit powerful right now). But just about every ship in this game is flown. Both combat and non combat ships. The market is freaking amazing and this is the only game where you can scam other players out of everything they own or ruthlessly hell camp others and it is perfectly fine. CCP is staying as true to the sandbox idea as they can and have told us they plan on making it as close to a pure sandbox as they can in the next 10 years by making everything destroy able/ownable.

They would have made a profit this year if not for the WOD write off. CCP has cut the fat off and is concentrating on its strengths. I have nothing but good feelings for the future of the company and this game. Anyone else?

It's so easy to dismiss the whole WoD fiasco if you're an Eve player. I live in Atlanta and know people who worked for White Wolf and had their lives and careers pretty much ruined by CCP and its complete mismanagement of what was at one time a really fine gaming company. Sure, this happens in business and people move on. But it's galling to hear that CCP is some benign and angelic company that just made a few goofs that are being corrected. People's lives were ruined by that little blip on the radar (which is how Eve folks seem to look at it.)

There's only a few other games like Eve partly because CCP has made such a cesspool of a community, where players brag online about screwing over other players and get pats on the back by developers for doing it. Eve absolutely has the right to be the game its developers and community want it to be, but it's a corner of the gaming world with a pretty bad smell, so it's no wonder there are so few games like it.

CCP is doing a great job. Keep in mind that no matter what, there will always be whiners, and the miners are usually in the minority around here - so that shows CCP is on the right track.

Since I started playing EVE it has increasingly become the only game I really care about.

I play and enjoy many other games. I've recently gotten into SWTOR, I'm not ashamed to admit quite enjoy that. Of course, I won't be trying to suggest that SWTOR features are good for EVE either, or vice versa, but compared to EVE, it's definitely not as fulfilling.

CCP has done a lot in 2 years, they went back and focused on core mechanics and balanacing. Lots of balancing. My only beef with them right now is immersion. A lot of immersion has been neglected. Personally i want station interiors to be updated to reflect more of each race (gallente pleasure hubs and the quafe girl back, amarr chanting maybe caldari state propoganda etc.) More eye candy nebulae etc. I loved the original eye candy that eve brough but a lot of it has gone by the wayside.

Why Can't I have a picture signature.

Also please support graphical immersion, bring back the art that brought people to EvE online originaly.

I think it's better to be honest about a CCP misgiving.. being polite while doing so.. instead of making a blanket statement of how great everything is.

I appreciate what the devs do, most certainly, but EVE has always been an evolving product with a very vocal fanbase. I think this relationship is unique, and it is what makes EVE a game we all enjoy so much..

I say 5/10. They seem to do just enough to keep people coming back. Now, with the updates coming faster, the game will be more and more bugged. I'm pretty much just biding my time for the other two big titles to make it out of beta. Just my 2 cents.

Glathull, I think you are being too generous. There is a fine line between "not being afraid to rock the boat" and "not listening to players when you can get away with it".

If CCP really wasn't afraid to rock the boat we'd see changes for off grid boosting, sov, PvE/mechanics that encourage good PvP fights instead of purely ganks, etc (or at least some rough roadmap from CCP/feedback requests). The fact is there are many bad mechanics in EVE that won't be fixed if CCP just makes simple tweaks every now and then.

Glathull wrote:

The people who stick around in spite of the adversity are people who take a challenge, run with it, and make something enjoyable out of it.

Maybe that's some people... but really the people who stick around are those who are patient enough to still find EVE fun after all the waiting. These are the players who will at least for the time being put up with boring sov mechanics, spending hours to try and get a fight (which is usually unnaturally forced), etc.

I have removed some rule breaking posts and those quoting them. As always I let some edge cases stay.
Please people, keep it on topic and above all civil!

The Rules:
3. Ranting is prohibited.

A rant is a post that is often filled with angry and counterproductive comments. A free exchange of ideas is essential to building a strong sense of community and is helpful in development of the game and community. Rants are disruptive, and incite flaming and trolling. Please post your thoughts in a concise and clear manner while avoiding going off on rambling tangents.

4. Personal attacks are prohibited.

Commonly known as flaming, personal attacks are posts that are designed to personally berate or insult another forum user. Posts of this nature are not beneficial to the community spirit that CCP promote and as such they will not be tolerated.

5. Trolling is prohibited.

Trolling is a defined as a post that is deliberately designed for the purpose of angering and insulting other players in an attempt to incite retaliation or an emotional response. Posts of this nature are disruptive, often abusive and do not contribute to the sense of community that CCP promote.

26. Off-topic posting is prohibited.

Off-topic posting is permitted within reason, as sometimes a single comment may color or lighten the tone of discussion. However, excessive posting of off-topic remarks in an attempt to derail a thread may result in the thread being locked, or a forum warning being issued.
