Mh what about a nano (navy) caracal with rapid light missiles and a couple of target painters? Just don't group weapons. Don't do overkill. Hopefully you'll be done witht he mission before you run out of ammo. Big smile

I believe in the couple of the simplest ones this would be quite viable option. However, the second one hits the 45 sec reload timer it falls significantly behind the turret option as turret ship can delete a L2 frigate every ~3 seconds within approx 25 km .. 30 km.

Here, sanity... niiiice sanity, come to daddy... okay, that's a good sanity... THWONK! GOT the bastard.

Yeah, I gave up on the Caracal as an L2/Rapid-Light mission runner for just this reason. The launcher takes too long to reload, which can really hurt your efficiency in missions like The Blockade or Gone Berserk. But then, I prefer guns/lazors to missile ships for mission running -- direct-damage weapons get it done faster. (I generally use drones as an augment to my DPS rather than the main component, too, but that's just because my gunnery skills are better than my drone skills.)

Well then sentry drones have an excellent tracking. Get sentries out, sit and kill stuff. For long missions a nano VNI with a sensor booster could work just fine. Better tracking than railguns if you don't have perfect skills for them and no ammo issues.

Honestly id roll in a t2 fit stabber.
The smallest of the med guns, great dps, plus bonus tracking. Semiselectable damage. Then stick 2 lmls in the remaining highs. Works just like the thorax someone else mentioned, but a little less damage for a lot more range, and a bit more speed. Shieldfit it ofcourse, and pack on the warp/agility mods.

I'm not quite following where would the stabber be getting this "lot more range". Railguns have better range than projectiles last I looked. If you fit artillery for getting similar range to 250mm rails you are doing overkills on frigates and have substantially smaller dps on targets that do not pop in one volley. If You fit AC you still have less dps than 250mm rails with navy antimatter and do not have the range. You would have ofc tracking advantage, but so far I have not observed tracking to be an issue with 250mm rails in L2 missions. Other than one mission where you can just pop the structure and warp off with the item needed.

It will work ofc, just like basically any cruiser does, but I do not believe it to be more effective. Perhaps I am missing something as I must admit I do not fly stabbers very often?
