Change to local in Low Sec?

How would someone go about evading showing up in local in Low Sec? Was there a change in Kronos or Crius? I've been away for awhile, so sorry if this is a stupid question. Last I knew everyone was supposed to show in local unless you're in a WH.

I was recently ratting in a 0.4 system and got ambushed by a duo of pirates. Neither of them showed up in local pre-tackle OR after. Just warped in, scrammed, and tag teamed me. I tried starting conversations with them to no avail.

Everyone who is logged in shows in local in the system they're in. No changes to that have been made.

If you think they might have been exploiting a bug, petition it.

this is no the first time iv heard of this,there were a bout of people reporting this a month or so ogo.
yes they should be in local if they are players .
file a support ticket to at the least raise the issue.

So after hitting up Dodixie post wastage it would appear that my UI was somehow bugged. People's conversations were not showing up in local. Even tried joining basic channels like 'Help' and nobody was showing up, no conversations.

I had to quit Eve and restart for everything to get back to order.... terrible bit of luck there. I would have noticed them come in system if it weren't for this crap bugging out. I'm sure it's from setting up my overview earlier this afternoon. Decided to take a sh** at some point in that process. Lesson learned, restart after overview changes.

That could be, but it's not the first time I hear this, so could just aswel be a bug from CCP's side so might still want to file a petition about it (worst possible outcome, it wasn't. But if it was an actual bug, CCP might refund you the loss).

Also keep in mind though, some channels (for instance: Help channel and Jita) are in delayed mode. So those channels are NOT an good way to check if your other channels are bugged. In help you will not show up unless you speak if it's busy (which it usually is).


Another possibility is that they used a log in trap, but that is highly unlikely if they didn't have eyes in local, or they are the most lucky SOBs in EVE by randomly logging in and finding you there.

Yeah, chalked it up to a simple glitch / bug and filed a petition to see if I can be reimbursed. Honestly, not too concerned as the ISK loss wasn't anything to write home about. Still waiting to hear back from CCP support.

You can get a very fast D-scan and warp & tackle with a ceptor when entering from a WH but that would require them to know exactly which belt you happen to be.

So, just to clear this thread up and give credit where it's due, CCP awarded me the ship minus dropped modules the pirates took (plus insurance payout). Took a long time to get a response, but can't say that's surprising when you consider the volume of requests they probably field. I honestly wasn't expecting things to go my way given the nature of the issue.
