I have aspirations to fly tech 2 transports. Most of my endeavors will involve moving ships and small semi-valuable cargos around highsec space with a minor portion transporting said materials into / from LowSec / Nullsec.

I was gravitating toward the shield tanked Minmatar / Caldari variants but w/out any experience in piloting the shiptypes I feel I'm out of my depth.

I think the Bustard is the tank-iest, especially with shield implants, and when overheating the hardeners (they last about 2 minutes, so feel free to add heat when things look the slightest bit suspicious). However, keep in mind one does have to activate the modules every jump [the fit below has 5 modules to activate].

Overall, any of the DST will do.

They're all fairly similar but I would go for an armour tanked one, for several reasons;

- armour allows you to fit EANM which are passives, instead of having to rely for your EHP on active invuls.
- they can use a MMJD and while it's situational it IS handy, using a shield fit while having MMJD is quite difficult.
- a ton of low slots allows for versatility in use

So I'd go either impel or Occator but it's all pros and cons really. get the one you already have partial training for. Having said that, using a DST in 0.0 is asking for trouble, in low sec it's doable if you avoid major gate camps.

That's an entirely silly fit, you don't need all that nonsense. Even with terrible nav skill you only need 3 local hulls to insta warp after cloak/mwd. Would one have good nav skills you can do with just 2 just fine, and without the silly MWD rig as well.


Given that the fit you'll use depends on where you fly (null, low, 0.0 or WH) here's fit that has pretty much everything you'll need, simply adapt to specific scenarios.

I'm not considering Deep Space Transports as precluding Blockade runners. I expect to use both and am hoping for insight on the racial differences of both DSTs & BRs when considering which racial industrial skill to train to 5.

For Blockade Runners, it's mostly about skills.

First off, you want a good HP buffer in case you run into a smartbomb camp. So Mechanics, Hull Upgrades, Shield Management and Tactical Shield Manipulation. Add to that Shield Upgrades so you can fit a shield extender and you are set.

Secondly, you need agility. Primarily Evasive Maneuvering followed by Warp Drive Operation and Afterburner.

As for fitting. In my Prorator I fit a Cov-ops cloak, an AB II, a medium shield extender, an I-stab II and a nano II. That leaves two low slots for more nano/ I-stabs, a DCU or cargo expanders depending on the mission. You also have a free high slot to use as you wish.

For rigs I use a Polycarbon Engine Housing and Low friction Nozzle Joints.

As I said earlier, this will get you in to warp faster than some frigates. You'll have a monster sig radius but it doesn't really matter as you'll be in warp practically before the camp knows you are on grid. Also with a 7.5 AU warp speed you can comfortably outrun a lot of pursuers.

I don't think you've tried a DST since they were buffed.

You forget about the difference between the MWD speed bonus and the cloak speed penalty. With 3 istabs you can make it work with nav skills at lvl 2/3

I like the bustard for the simple reason that I can whore on Conord kill mails with light missile launchers if someone tries to gank me in highsec.

For the record, I can get about 90k EHP out of a bustard and still fit two light missile launchers on the top.

I'd have to find the fit but I can post it if there's interest.
