I like how EVE gives me the bare minimum in terms of pretty ship models, my capsuleer, visual effects. I find it's all part of the grand sandbox where you can define everything. I don't want CCP to direct me; I want my battles to feel like my battles. The UI feeds information to me and boy am I thirsty for information. Raw, unbiased, objective information. The perfect truth. I don't want CCP to show me where every single shot lands, and every single hit my ship takes. I just want to know there has been damage dealt and taken, because those blanks that I fill in? That's the sandbox.

nothing wrong with it !! its perfcect acccess to everything you need with out bumbling around through short cuts. my advice is play the game for longer so you start find more use for the ui which i promise that you will and will eventually find it very very useful to have it all there and easy to access. and its nothing like windows 95 not even close.

Say I'm fighting a Cynabal. I always thought it'd be cool if instead of the pic of the cynabal that shows up with the three HP bars as I target it, there was like a real time 3d model of it including it firing and getting fired upon. That way even though I need to be zoomed out to play the game efficiently, I could still feel like I'm fighting a Cynabal and not a red flashy square.

You can zoom into the cynabal and watch him as you shoot at him. Unless you mean that you want the picture in the corner to be an animated ship. I think that might be too much effort for too little payoff, but that's just my opinion.

Oh, I perfectly understand, Hal Morsh — a mission like this requires courage, skill, and heroism… qualities you are clearly lacking. Have you forgotten you're one of the bloody immortals!?

and the UI is so much better than it used to be Lol

I think a lot of it is just moving around the overview, selected items, and drone windows. But at the same time I really don't like the way the game shows my hit points and cap levels. I'd really like some bigger bars closer to the middle of my screen.

the modules section works pretty well I think, reminds me pretty well of action bars in other games.

people have been asking for more customization options for years, CCP is slowly adding bits and pieces here and there.

You posted in GD by simply whining about how the UI is bad, after not even being in game long enough to properly learn what all that information is used for. What did you expect to happen?

Here's a hint: EvE is notoriously unforgiving of stupidity, the forums are worse, and if you reach a certain level of stupidity, someone will track you down and pod you in game.

Is not the spreadsheet type of UI what really makes the whole thing look and function bad for a new player,i just that i feel so overwhelmed from the fact that i need to have all this info on my screen because is necessary but theres very little customization Visual wise to make it both work the way i want and make it look like a modern game and not a Windows 95 program. The combat is more like fighting the UI rather than the NPC/Enemy-player. Id love to get any suggestions on how to improve that if theres any way to do it

Maybe it would be better to list some of the space games you have played and what you liked about their UI and what could be improved in EVE?

E.g. off the top of my head I've played : Elite, Freelancer, X-Wing, Tie-Fighter, Vegaspace, Darkstar One, X2 and X3 Reunion before playing Eve.

There aren't any UIs in the above list that I would say are much better than EVE.

You know this is the same for pilots IRL. They're used to steering by looking through the windshield. Stick them in a plane with a heads-up display and they keep trying to look around the display and out the window. There's a whole lot of pilots we lose annually worldwide because of this.

That's why instrument flying is a specific qualification, and most air forces around the world spend a month or so training their fledgling pilots to fly by instrument, and not by the seat of their pants. It's not easy at first, but believe it or not, over time it's the only way you'll feel comfortable flying, and in the end you'll be managing with even more information on your screen you've put there yourself.

No... If you've ever flown then you'd know that you only use your instruments if you really have to, but there's no substitute for looking out the window and seeing where the horizon is.

They were rude and "un-social" because they didn't agree with you?

No, seriously, this game has, by far and away, one of the most customizable UIs in any game ever made. The problem isn't with the software. The problem is with the person who hasn't figured out how it all works.

User interfaces don't need to be "pretty"; they need to be functional, which this one accomplishes in spades. Well, except for the overview's many known issues, but those are being worked on, last I heard.
