hi every one was hoping you guys could help a bit im thinking of getting a new pc and ive been thinking about an alienware aurora (and before some of you try to tack my head i've heard every thing that ppl say about alienware)

it has:
CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-4820K Processor (4-cores, 10MB Cache, Overclocked up to 4.2 GHz w/ Turbo Boost)
GPU:AMD Radeon(TM) R9 270 with 2GB GDDR5
RAM:8192MB (4x2GB) 1600MHz DDR3 Quad Channel
memory:1TB SATA 6Gb/s (7200RPM) 32MB Cache

now i like to know if i can max out eve using it or do i have to pay out 200 to 300 euro more to do so

Your build is screwed up. You need an i5 processor with 16gb RAM, not an i7 with 8gb...

well im thinking about what i might need to do a year or two down the line. the things i put in it now the less times i need to get under the hood of the pc lol and if i do go with an alliance there's not a lot option alienware aurora options have a look and see they only have i7 cpus and for me building my own pc i can do it but if 2 or 3 parts F*** up i would have to find 2 or 3 manufactures and contact them about the components but with alienware i just call dell and they send out someone to fix it lol no joke its in the price of buy from them and for saving money it 200 to 300 different be twine building and buy from dell not that big to me

Just because you're not a power user doesn't mean they don't exist.

I like "huge towers" because I actually use my system heavily. I like having components that run heavily OCed and last for +5 years because they are properly cooled (and quietly at that as my "huge case" has big slow moving fans). I like being able to upgrade items. I have machines still in service that are over 6 years old.

I use my cases fully and I'm guessing that as a casual user you don't..

maybe you haven't noticed this but optical discs are very much going obsolete

they're all but obsolete in music, they're entirely obsolete for software distribution and the only place they're likely to survive in for the near future is in video

My asus bluetooth dongle I bought for my pc that doesn't have bluetooth needed the cd to install the drivers. Yea I could of hunted on the asus website but having an optical drive is indeed handy sometimes.

Ease of assembly, universal compatibility, and dreams of one day stuffing 50 petabyte worth of drives in there. P
In fact, “some day…” is probably a surprisingly big part of it: some day, you'll have two double-slot-wide cards SLI:d, and a hardware capture card for streaming, and you'll replace all of the parts over and over and want them to fit and… and… and… (never mind that not even a fraction of it will happen).

As for optical drives, I don't burn them (often) other than to deliver some media as a fall-back presentation or as an alternative to when they're skittish about USB drives. I also rip a fair amount… but even so, you're right: you might as well have that one external these days. And hell, even if you want an internal one, there are enough slim or vertically-mounted models that size shouldn't an issue anyway.

Oh, and quietly cooling those cases is also a fair bit easier. Again, grr, noise 🔇

Hey man, don't do it. The new generation of Intel Haswell-E CPU's are coming out in a few days. In Quarter 1 of 2015 DDR4 RAM will be going mainstream.
While there's something to be said about that, this thinking will also quickly lead you to never actually buying a computer. The next great thing is always a month away, and if you want to make use of it, you have to wait a month and a half to have all the other parts updated to work with that new tech.

How many DDR4 mobos are out right now? What new tech will be just months away and not be supported in half a year when they do come out?

Great fans, though. P

DDR4 motherboards are already out, however they are currently extremely expensive. This is why I said wait til the first quarter of 2015 by then costs will be down. Also Intel has already stated this is the future for the direction they are going, DDR4 RAM in bench marks is already showing 50-60 percent performance gains over DDR3. That isn't one of those oh something better always comes up kind of improvements. Normally an upgrade will provide 10-15 percent added performance. 50-60 percent is a game changer, its like not wanting to wait for the PS4 to come out in 2 months so you went and bought an Atari. The comparison is ridiculous and hence so is your comment. I've been in I.T. now for 12 years, and a Sr. Network Operations Engineer for 3 years. And I for one can't wait till servers start using DDR4 as we will be able to cut costs drastically as we will only need to buy half the RAM as we usually have to in DDR3 servers because the DDR4 RAM is producing so much more. DDR3 max bandwith is roughly 9.6 GB/s while DDR4 is maxing out at roughly 17 GB/s. DDR4 also uses roughly 40% less power than DDR3.

Now couple that with the new Haswell-E i7-5820k 6core cpu running at 3.3ghz with 15mb l3 cache and it will cost the same as the 4770k.

…and the fundamental point remains the same: if you “don't buy now because in six months…”, your purchase will always be six months in the future. Instead, unless it's literally a week away, you buy what's best for your budget right now and upgrade as new stuff gets released.

waiting till Q1 because of the fact if you buy a Haswell-E mother board now its going to cost you at least $300 wait a few months and you'll be able to pick one up for $100. DDR4 is currently astronomical in price, wait till Q1 and you will most likely be able to get it for a fraction of the cost.

Your 6mo jargain is quite funny and moronic. I already stated normally an upgrade is a 10-15 percent gain, this is not the norm. You obviously aren't very bright.

Also generally speaking people who can't prove a point or have no actual knowledge on a topic either try to do one of two things to make themselves look / feel big, point out grammatical errors or try and refer to someone as a kid (as if you were in my house checking how old I am.).

Next you'll be saying you have bigger genitalia than I do.

Also what operating system would be best? The guy at chillblast feels windows 8.1 would be better than 7/

Thankyou

go for the chillblast the mesh is underpowered with graphics and windows 7

I recently built a new pc for myself

msi z97 gaming 7 mb
780 gtx vga card
16gb ram @1600
intel 4790k cpu
Samsung ssd 250 gb - boot disk
running win7 ultimate
+ other bits of hardware

I had a budget of 2000, built it for less than 1500 including a 24 inch 3d monitor.

it boots up in less than 10 secs no need to make a cup of tea any more Blink
