With the release of Hyperion on August 26th you will see many improvements and updates in EVE Online. The API, which is a used by the player community to create wonderful tools and powerful third party apps, will be improved as well.

The maybe biggest change is that you will be able to see a complete list (up to 200,000) of your blueprints and blueprints owned by your corporation. There are also improvements to caching, a somewhat easier lookup of the employment history details and more.

Read all about these improvements in CCP FoxFour's latest dev blog What third party developers probably want to know about Hyperion.

Sorry, I would have mentioned you as the source but I just found it in my twitter history and couldn't figure out who made it. Sorry!

I am shocked that the API end point for siphons isnt being fixed. Since its a game breaking bug, unless it is working as intended.

Made a signature so I am taken seriously on the forums, since thats the only thing they are good for.

It's only "game breaking" if you think that the API should ever lie about data, which it shouldn't...ever. It should be just as reliable as viewing it in person.

That being said, there are a lot of people that don't monitor their APIs, just like they don't monitor their Reactions....so leave it be and go after the idiots, which is what this tool is designed for.

How about bringing more static data to a "store near you" via the API? Such as Blueprint Activity/Material data (please get rid of YAML as a data transmitter). Much more could be added in a like manner.

dat image on the devblog

Sorry, I know this is slightly off-topic, but that's a really cool image in a style I don't often see. Brings back memories from MicroProse games. Who is the artist, where can I see more, and did this person work for MicroProse in the past? These are important questions, you see.

FT Diomedes: "Reaver, sometimes I wonder what you are thinking when you sit down to post."

Frostys Virpio: "We have to give it to him that he does put more effort than the vast majority in his idea but damn does it sometime come out of nowhere."

Is there somewhere written what's the cache time for the blueprint endpoint? From the example in the devblog it looks as it's 1 minute but I highly doubt that's the case.

Sorry I didn't really think about that when I wrote the dev blog. First time including sample output. The cache time is 24 hours on the blueprints endpoint.

Work is going on that, we are having a hard time reproducing it internally however which is making fixing it very hard.

24h? This is worse than I expected. Don't get me wrong here Regner but this endpoint will not be much of a use when combined with the IndustryJobs one. I already know that the BP endpoint was created due to performance concerns from your side but it's not helpful this way.

The previous version of the IndustryJobs provided the info of the ME/TE level of the installed BP and according to the runs, we could present the ending ME/TE. Useful info for those who want to know what the end result will be in a flash or as a reminder. With this version we have to combine the two endpoints (BP and IJ) but still the info will not be accurate.

Let me present the use case so you get what I mean.
IndustryJobs updates every 15 minutes. So let's say that I put a BP into ME/TE researching. After 15 minutes I may have increased the BPs ME/TE level a bit but this will not be visible until the BP endpoints cache expires. Hey, I may have done several ME/TE researches to several BPs but still I won't be able to have accurate data on their ME/TE until the BP endpoint cache expires.

Yes, yes, I know some of you may say that this can be dealt with by using custom caching from our side but still there are cases where the data may be out of sync.

I thought that the API was supposed to make our (us 3rd party devs) life easier to create useful apps but in this case I thing it failed to deliver that.

Although I agree with the concerncs raised by Desmont, I nonetheless thank you, CCP FoxFour at el, for delivering the long awaited BPO API.

Let me assure you that even in this state (you gonna rethink that caching time, right?), it will be great help for the bond/loan/insurance professions, making evaluation/verification of escrowed BPOs and overall NAV estimations much easier.

Thanks so much for the BP endpoint. This is a good start. I would also like the cache time a bit lower if possible.

As far as ME/TE on the industry jobs, I'll reiterate that I would like this back as I've mentioned in my previous posts.

Thanks
