Do you guys find pvp, wh, or 0.0 corps accepting of someone who can't use voice coms since they can't hear ? I have a friend who would like to try these areas but knows he would be disadvantaged by the whole voice coms command issue and sees most corps require voice coms.

It depends on the alliance. We have a corp whose CEO is deaf, he's also one our few [redacted] pilots. He has no problem attending fleets either as long as someone relays to chat or is able to follow broadcasts easily. He's also a really cool dude Cool

If an alliance can't handle someone like this they're **** and you should look for another one.

It is a shame but from a FCs standpoint its hard to cater to the hearing impaired. Its a challenge to relay instructions what can change in a instant through text. Some are able to do it, but usually it doesn't work as well.

For large fleet fights in 0.0, You need to be able to use voice comms. The rate at which orders are given out tend to be very fast paced and they need to be done quickly. Trying to type out every small detail that needs to be done would be a major hassle for the FC or anyone in a fleet while they themselves are trying to follow the same orders. This is the sad truth, but its just the way it is.

I've seen similar situations and what ends up happening is someone in fleet is designated the 'repeater' and types the important FC instructions into fleet chat. Liberal use of broadcasts helps as well, but CCP needs to resolve the broadcast updating issues that have plagued the (otherwise great) broadcast system.

Where there's a will, there's a way.

The right to free speech doesn't automatically carry with it the right to be taken seriously.

I think goons would take him considering 99% of them are physically and mentally challenged..

Most nullsec alliances shouldn't have any issues with hearing impaired pilots.

Just ask someone in fleet to relay FC manual orders. The FC should be using broadcasts anyways. Relaying orders is not hard to do. I've volunteered on many occasions.

Relaying orders also benefits confused pilots and the distracted people looking at porn in local. Blink
