Do them like the burner NPC's have them faction fitted with max skills and plop them in the middle of 0.0 complexes, belts and moons. Come on if you have a fully upgraded pirate indicy in your 0.0 system you should attract unwanted attention by pirates. NPC cap ships are the way to do it.

Sure, if the give 0 ISK bounties and drop no loot, you can have all the challenging npcs caps you want

I would like to see new complexes and such balanced around capitals, with such things. about the same isk/hr as capital ratting is now, but (low) chances to drop m1 or m3 capital prints, similar to the m2 prints you can get from concord in effectiveness.

I like the meta 1 or meta 3 bpcs maybe a chance at a bpc like a reskin of a carrier say a serpentis thanatos making your thanatos all black and green etc. But the idea around this is to make higher pirate indicies or system upgrades have some sort of consequence rather than just endless farming.

If its because you attracted NPC attention, then it should be a BAD thing for your system. They start an Incursion into your system, drop NPC SBUs, hit every tower in your system with a 200 rat fleet and attack station services, all at once!!

Looks like a fun way to add challanges, balance the reward so its not just a better cash cow and ill support it :D

Who dont want more capitals in space, deadspace fit/linked carrier and dread sounds like its hard to kill when you cant nuet them (pretty sure it dont work on npc atleast)

I think the only way to balance out these NPC capital ships would be to (In the very least):

1 Make them DD capable with Super DPS;
2. triage level self reps;
3. Allow them to be ewar suseptable; but
4. Give them the ability to remote rep; and
5. Have at least 2 on grid, with a chance of reinforcement drop.

(Think C6 sleepers of Bull Roids)

I was hunting for sick loot, but all I could get my hands on were 50 corpses[:|]..............[:=d]

Most people don't realize this but There already is an NPC Capital you can shoot in the game, its in the SOE epic arc during the part in matari space, its a niddhogger stolen by pirates.

Anyways I think NPC Caps would be an interesting addition, certainly adds a degree more challenge if you need multiple people to bring one down effectively, Especially if they used similar fighter mechanics to MOM's during incursions and did respectable damage ( i would argue they should tackle too )

NPC Dreads however would be challenging, too good on the trackingand battleships go insta splat, too low on the DPS and theyre just too easy to sig tank or outrep. Which also begs the arguement, Should you be able to get under their guns as easily?

Would be interesting to see if and how this played out though, i do like the idea

Oh and as for loot drops make them drop decent loot, maybe a unique tag or material you can redeem kinda like the mordu covert research materials. Or maybe make them drop low end faction mods who knows?

I kinda like this idea, make them the L4 Battleship Burner missions in highsec, require players to form a small fleet to take them down. kinda like a Kundalini Manifest lite.

Sorry if i dont quote everyone I want to touch on a few things.

Dreads - their purpose is to nuke other capitals and pos towers. So going with the idea if they spawn that's what they would only really be good at shooting at, But to ensure balance and making sure they are not easily popped perhaps have a small support fleet spawn, say 5 bs, 5 bc, 5 cruiser and 5 frigs and maybe some spider drones for good measure
Or, if you go with standard rat spawns 2 carriers and a dread, both doing standard RR but have fighters.

NPC pirates attacking sov and SBU - i wont address this until after people discuss sov, power projection and mechanics more in depth.

NPC super caps - like in incursions this could be fun - I wouldnt say titans yet, but from incursions we know mom's work well.

Loot - the loot table i agree would be the hardest to balance out, you cant make it a loot pinata but you cant get nothing for all that effort. Lets use incursions as an example though for a loot table. For dreads and carriers say a few faction modules, c-types and a chance and a pirate ship npc, or custom skin for a cap etc
super caps - bs bpc's guarnteed maybe some random ded space modules, over seer effects or maybe special pos tower bpc's like pirate labs, towers, etc. or hell maybe a custom outpost bpc you know one that makes the outpost look like a sansha battle station :D

Loot tables would be the hardest to balance but I would love the increased risk. More risk equals more fun sometimes.

Not the same as having them spawn in complexes or anomolies or right on top of you while you are belt ratting, which i gather is the focus of this idea.
