I don't see how throwing the match could have made them that much isk anyway, nobody sane was going to bet on code to beat RvB and evebet does have dynamic odds so at *best* they might have made their entry fee back. Maybe.

looks to me that they got exactly what they wanted: for people to talk about them. How much is being talked about any of the other great fights we saw today? Almost nothing it is all about this one.

And frankly that seems to be all they really care about, between faking miner tears to the constant bleating in local and on the forums about the code.

There is a mittani story forthcoming on this but long story short, we ganked a freighter with another alliance's tournament fleet in it. We withdrew after having seen it; anything otherwise would compromise the integrity of the tournament.

Maybe I'm cynical but if this actually happened wouldn't that killmail be uploaded somewhere by now ? (with API linked killboards and such being pretty much standard these days).

I would like to congratulate Code. for generating the most discussion of an alliance tournament match in the history of the event. A greater victory could not have been achieved had Code. "won" the tournament outright. Once again speculation is rife within the Eve online community about everyone's favourite pantomime villain corp, keeping the metagame alive and well.

Code. have brought the metagame to this annual event that has otherwise suffered from failing at demonstrating this key element of Eve. Praise James 315, may he and Code. continue to improve Eve through the metagame for many years to come, they and others like them are what set this game apart from all others.

Pretty sure they don't even come close to how much discussion hydra/outbreak had that one year. But sure, if you want to go with the "at least they talked about us" narrative I suppose being described as spineless cowards is.... Good? I'm not one to subscribe to the "any publicity is good publicity school" but if that floats your boat then sure.

It's as good an excuse for being pathetic as any I suppose.

Thats all well and good but unfortunately your peers in code and its many supporters in these forums have clearly stated that posting from NPC corps invalidates all opinions you might have.
Sorry bro, nice try on the spin though.

Exactly. And like Sir Robin they deserve minstrels to sing about their brave deeds.
And as long as it is done in a civil manner, maybe with some slightly scabrous wording thrown in like any good minstrel would do, that's entirely fine by me.

For those who have yet to complete The Shrubbery Quest and thus may be unfamiliar with Monty Python:

Bravely bold Sir Robin
Rode forth from Camelot.
He was not afraid to die,
Oh brave Sir Robin.
He was not at all afraid
To be killed in nasty ways.
Brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Robin.

He was not in the least bit scared
To be mashed into a pulp.
Or to have his eyes gouged out,
And his elbows broken.
To have his kneecaps split
And his body burned away,
And his limbs all hacked and mangled
Brave Sir Robin.

His head smashed in
And his heart cut out
And his liver removed
And his bowls unplugged
And his nostrils raped
And his bottom burnt off
And his pen--

"That's... that's enough music for now lads,
*** looks like there's dirty work afoot*** ???."

Brave Sir Robin ran away.
("No!")
Bravely ran away away.
("I didn't!")
When danger reared it's ugly head,
He bravely turned his tail and fled.
("no!")
Yes, brave Sir Robin turned about
("I didn't!")
And gallantly he chickened out.

****Bravely**** taking ("I never did!") to his feet,
He beat a very brave retreat.
("all lies!")
Bravest of the braaaave, Sir Robin!
("I never!")

Wheels within wheels, everyone has a theory.

It does make for a great narrative though, RvB bans the ships that CODE would for sure use, so CODE just quits coz that's just totes what CODE would do lel they can't do real PVP! It's something the typical EVE player will latch on to, that's for sure.

I guess it'll be one of those great mysteries of our time!

7.2 CAN I AVOID PVP COMPLETELY? No; there are no systems or locations in New Eden where PvP may be completely avoided. --Eve New Player Guide
