EVE Fanfest - Non-written Age Restriction?

You look awesome today, bro!
Now, let's get to the point. EVE Online is an MMO. And a game, at most. Now, here is something really strange about it.
Whenever you hear about games, you automatically think about kids. Think about those Call of Duty - EPIC KID RAGE FTW videos that you always see on those troll channels, or WoW - Kid ragequits, and other similar videos.
Although most games have an age restriction, you almost always encounter two categories of unpleasant kids:

  • Sqeakers
  • Furies

Squeakers are generally pre-pubescent children that have a low troll tolerance level, or a zero tolerance level for those who don't IMMEDIATELY obey them. They are known for their general high nuisance level and high-pitched voices. These kids love to prioritize themselves as "the stars of the show", and often give themselves important roles that they actually never own. This leads to them being shunned by the gaming community.
Furies are usually older children that have an age between 10 - 12, and may or may not be worst. Instead of crying or screaming like Squeakers, they enjoy using foul language for no particular reason, barking to others and being annoying.

In my time of playing EVE and watching it, I have never bumped into a single kid. I'm extremely curious about this, since MMOs are really popular nowadays among children.
Now, let's get to the main thing.

I've watched most of the EVE Fanfest videos, and once again, something pretty odd for an MMO. Most of the audience was composed primarily of fully grown men. Unlike other Fanfests like MineCon, not a single child in sight. Whether they were large or small, they did come to see the greatest MMO of them all. I've been at the EVE Fanfest 2015 site, and I've read that there will be no MAR (Minimum Age Requirement) to join the Fanfest itself. The only age restriction will be at the alcohol-serving events. According to Icelandic law, the minimum age needed to consume alcoholic beverages is 20. But still, anybody can enter the Fanfest, ranging from a six year-old to a century-old elder.
Although, I still feel that there is an unwritten age restriction. It's not actually imposed by CCP, but it's just...there. Floating in the air. Is this intentionally imposed by the EVE Community in order to keep the annoying kids at bay, or is it just chance that most of the EVE Community is made up by adults?

There's a few kids playing Eve (I did notice an influx of them since the Dust release, but in their defense, the ones that hang around in various eve channels are good ones)
I do find that eve has a far lower group of annoying kiddies. We do have a large group of immature adults however to compensate for that, but hey, you can find those in every MMO! Here they just don't get obscured by the annoying kids.

I believe part of the reasons that it doesn't seem to attract kids is that Eve is a slow game. Most kids enjoy fast paced action and Eve doesn't offer that. The reward scheme is, relative to other MMO's slow as well.
It does mean a natural selection from the beginning in EvE, most kids that do stay around are the ones who enjoy a slower, more tactical game, leading to a group of kids playing Eve that fit alot better into the community.

In the end, Eve has a large self-correcting factor: being loud & obnoxious gets you punished quickly in EvE by the community.

eve's min requirement is 13.

I had at various times:

2 16 year olds
1 13 year old
2 15 year olds
several 17 year olds

In my corp. You can tell real fast how old they old, esp if they type a mile and min and wont shut up.

For fanfest, the age restriction is either 18 or 21, I think icelands drinking age is 18, but I forget. (could be wrong)

I heard of a 5 year old playing and seen footage of a 10 year old girl yaring it up so they play

OMG Comet Mining idea!!! Comet Mining!
