Do you know how anomalies work? When you finish one another pops up somewhere else. Move around and find it. It's part of that awesome mechanics devs call exploration. So explore.

You'll find it in 0.2 sec and below I think.

I read the thread title really fast and had to do a double take.

Now I can't make a snide joke. Sad

Low-sec and null-sec will have this type of ore. Sometimes you might get lucky in high-sec cosmic anomalies (I think).

edit: I would just like to add that I have just mined some Arkanor and Bisciot for over 2 hours in a low-sec anomaly (in a high-traffic FW system no less too).

My best advice for mining in low-sec is as follows...

- if you use a Venture then fit it for yield and survivability. Medium shield extender and shield resistance amps should do nicely for a tank.

- if using a Procurer then fit a tank (shield or hull) and damage. Fitting a scram, web, drone damage amp, and hobgoblins will help you fend off NPCs and moronic player frigates alike.

- mine in a system that sees little traffic (unless you want to actually fight someone as I was hoping for).

- use your Directional Scanner (left side of your capacitor HUD) and set it so that you can see inbound ships before they arrive.

- when you warp into an anomaly (or even an asteroid belt) GET OFF THE WARP IN. Put a sizable cushion between you and the warp-in point (remember that warp disruptors can grab you from 24-31 kms away).

- know what you can and cannot take. A Venture cannot take on anything in PvP... warp away ASAP. A highly skilled Procurer can only take a narrow range of targets (mostly close range frigates and destroyers)... so warp out if you do not feel sure about your survival.

- you can always make a deal with the locals. If you volunteer to be "bait" for other PvPers they might just let you mine in relative peace. The trick is that you have to live AND hold down the hostile long enough for aid to arrive.

While I applaud you for being willing to jump into low sec for ore, there are a few things you should think about.

First off, it's not something you should try solo. Talk to whoever takes care of operations in your corp and see if they'd set up a proper fleet. It doesn't need to be large, but you'll want a Rorq or Orca boosting, a hauler, some combat ships on stand by and/or a couple of scouts checking joining systems.

Secondly, you are more likely to make more ISK by jumping in a fast ship and scouting for anomalies in your high sec region. I'm not sure why, but in my experience people tend not to mine in them so you can often empty one of all it's high value ore and no one shows up to compete for it. If I had to guess, I'd say most miners are afk or just have the scan turned off. In any case, you can pull in some good ores.

As I recall, there are a lot of nice empty systems in the Agil area. Good for ratting or mining unmolested.

I wouldn't be all too terrified of going into low alone. There's a bit of a logistics challenge getting the Procurer to the right system (you will NEED a Procurer/Skiff to tank these rats), but if you can find a quiet enough system with a dock and have some means of hauling your minerals out then you should be OK.

However, the ISK/hr difference isn't very impressive and you might not find it worth the risk versus mining in 0.5 space with a Retriever.

No... no you don't. At least not in low-sec.

If you use a Venture you can easily speed tank most of the NPCs with an afterburner for a good duration of time (just have your drones kill the frigates and destroyer NPCs first).

A tanked Procurer is pretty overkill against low-sec rats. And if fit for extra drone damage it can take out a BS rat by itself.

There is some truth to this. But if you find a good cosmic ore site you can make a pretty good penny.
