PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: I am aware that this post's place is not in this part of the forums, but I have already lost my patience. Besides myself being on a strict schedule for skill training, there is also an upcoming event that is very important to me, it's arrival being imminent. Nobody looks at the tech issues, so I thought that this would be the best place to attract attention on this matter.
ATTENTION! THIS REQUEST IS FOR MODS AND ISD STAFF: Before relocating this post back to the abandoned part of the forums where it truly belongs, please allow me to get some replies so I can solve this issue. After my client is back up and running, feel free to move this post.

Tech Issue:

"Hello, all.
Today, when logging on to EVE Online using the launcher, a new update started to roll in. After about 5 seconds, the progress bar turns from yellow to red, and I receive an error message stating the following:

"The EVE Launcher cannot update a directory from which processes are running. Please close the following process: ccpbrowser.exe".

I went onto my task manager, but there was no such thing as a ccpbrowser.exe running. I tried launching the .exe file and the repair file, but none of them would work. Help needed."

"And when, at last, the moment is yours, that agony will become your greatest triumph."

your best best is to run the repair tool in your eve directory, this will update the client for you and should eliminate your problem

Reboot computer, run repair as administrator, run launcher as administrator and you should be fine.

Hi OP, not sure if you're in Windows 8.

If ccpBrowser.exe is running, it will show up as "CCP Web Browser" in the "Background processes" list. It won't be in the "Apps" list.

There should be no reason it should be running.. you should only see "launcher.exe" and "CCP ExeFile" in the "Apps" list.

It is possible that the launcher is using the web browser process and not shutting it down? Next time it happens, look for these three processes and tap "End Task" for "CCP ExeFile" and "CCP Web Browser", and leave the launcher as is and see if that helps.

Otherwise try the repair tool after a reboot as others have suggested.

Ive had the issue the OP describes, and a reboot and repair will usually solve it.

Ive had only 1 serious launcher issue, and my support ticket was answered within a day by a very nice GM.

Stuff happens OP, and if you are going to have a poor attitude, and throw a fit when trolls invade your thread that you insisted the ISDs leave in their backyard, youre going to have a bad time.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Alright, some really weird sh*t is going on with my launcher. I've been trying to uninstall the game (success), but when I try to reinstall it won't let me because wherever I place the folders, it says that it can't be placed in the same directory. I don't know what's going on but it's effing up my PC .

So it's your fault in the first place.

Here's what you do. Reinstall the game in the proper folder. (Pretend you know how to use a computer), then login and biomass yourself, then uninstall the game.

.

They say most of your brain shuts down on the EvE forums. All but the impatient side, and the sarcastic side. No wonder I'm still awake.
