No Man's Sky: how will this ever be true?

Hi All,

Couldn't find a topic on the game in the first few pages, nor in the forum search.

http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/12/10/interview-no-mans-sky-and-procedural-generation/

So this is a fairly old interview, but I've got to say I'm completeley stoked for the game.

A Universe so big, you'll barely meet other players.
If you get popped, you crashland, and have to build a spaceship from scratch again
Building your ship will enable faster travel, better guns etc.
It's really impossible to see the whole in game universe, too big.
Planets are planet sized
If you discover a new species on a habitable planet (which are very rare to begin with), you can name it
The map is shared
There are space pirates
There is in game AI for terraforming NPC's that change worlds as they go along
The atomic makeup of a planet define things like geology type, atmosphere etc.

It boggles the mind.

True space explo game!

I know the general consensus is that Procedural equals vaporware. But this game is coming out.

I'm wondering: how will this even work? They promise is so massive, how can they technically achieve this?

Information is still fairly sparse. I'm going to be at Gamescom to see if I can find out more, but does anyone else have information on the game? Things I should know? Something I've missed that should temper my enthusiasm?

Calm your **** son. Wait for the game to be released, wait for reviews, let the peasants beta test it for the PC master race and wait for user reviews.

Pick it on a Steam sale for 50% less.

It's a PS4 timed exclusive...... I guess the PC Master Race got passed by for now.

One to watch but not the first time I have heard of a game where the universe was going to be procedurally generated that turned into nothing, did go on to watch a interview with the dev of this game and he said they are a super small team developing a super massive game or something along those lines, I am skeptical this will deliver if it does i call it an EVE killer right now. I will get a PS4 to play this.

I do not know many console owners that would get into a game that is not scripted out for them, but I have been wrong before.

Looks interesting to say the least, but I agree with Alpheias in the first post.

Why? It is a just timed exclusive on the PotatoStation 4 and it will come to PC.

I prefer to wait for 75% off, or even less cashola.
Will probably be 2-3 years before I find the time to play it anyway.

Kinda like Red Dead Redemption on PS3 and Xbox 360, right? Still waiting for that PC release.

Glad I bought my buddy's PS3 with some games a few years ago, because it's only the greatest single player game ever made and the PS3 was worth buying for that game alone.

I think this game will be great (AT FACE VALUE) however I am too poor to buy a PS4. Will it be released for PC?

Not quite the same thing. A timed exclusive means that No Man's Sky will be exclusive to PS4 for a limited time before we see its release on PC. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a release for the XBone down the road as well.

While I can't speak for anyone else but myself, I did watch some videos of someone playing Red Dead Redemption on Youtube and well, I am glad I don't share your taste in games you little pleb.

Indeed it will be coming to PC. It's coming to Xbox One as well even though they "aren't talking about any other platforms"
