Armor brawler fit my Ishtar instead of shield kiting?

I ask because my armor skills are 5s and shields are 4s, and historically I've always fit my droneboats for armor. Skilling towards an Ishtar and suggested fits and slot layout etc all push for shield kiting fits.

The Ishtar can do literally anything. Shield fits are more popular, but the thing still has monstrous drones and enough mid slots to whatever the hell it wants in an armor fit.

No. You'd only be the biggest idiot in the 'verse if you flew an Ishtar with no drones.

Armor fits are less mobile, but no less useful. Just fly accordingly.

armor fits tend to be less stressful on the CPU, which is a major bottleneck for the ishtar. as long as you keep one-two DDAs on there, you are fine.

I should buy an Ishtar.

The only issue with the Ishtar (if you can call it that) is that whether shield or armor it has a gaping resistance hole at one end of the spectrum or the other and try as you might EM and Explosive are pretty much always going to be the best damage types against it. I much prefer Minmatar or Amarr T2 hulls for that reason, an Amarr armor tank often has less EM/Thermal resists than Kin/Explosive but the profile is much closer to uniform than on Gallente or Caldari but the Ishtar is just too good to not abuse the hell out of it. As I said though I had to dig pretty hard to find this knit to pick.

Really it's pretty much impossible to go wrong with an Ishtar assuming your fit has some driving idea behind it and is not just whatever you have to hand.

Reality has an almost infinite capacity to resist oversimplification.

What deals explosive damage these days other than bombs (irrelevant to the Ishtar) and other Ishtars?

Certain missile boats would if they were expecting an armour fleet, but yeah, its the rarest damage type and I wouldn't worry too much about a exp resist hole. I hate Amarr t2 resists for exactly that.

P.S. I just remembered that t2 arty ammo is about half explosive, so a tornado/tempest/mael alpha gang would ruin your day, but I don't think anyone actually does that anymore.

How about anything using Minmatar guns?
Regardless of the ammo type they have loaded, there's always a sizeable chunk of explosive damage in the spread.
