I have noticed that for some bizarre reason market discussion forums is of late mostly composed of loan requests. Would it not be more appropriate to have these in their dedicated forum section existing for that kind of stuff which is the dedicated marketplace forum section with even quite fitting subsection of want ads and trades already existing? That being Home » EVE Forums » EVE Marketplace » Want Ads & Trades

I mean I have nothing against loan requests in particular, but if I come to market discussion forum section I'm not exactly looking for and opportunity to loan someone isk. I'm kinda looking more towards .. well .. you know .. discussions about market.

Here, sanity... niiiice sanity, come to daddy... okay, that's a good sanity... THWONK! GOT the bastard.

The "Sell Orders" and "Want Ads & Trades" forum sections are intended for discussion free exchanges.

Loans generally require discussion.

Therefore "Market Discussions" has been (for as long as I can remember) the place to discuss the market and to carry out any market activities that require more discussion than those dedicated forum sections allow for.

The absence of much other than loans and trolls in the Market Discussions forum is another matter entirely.

I guess because no trader really likes to discuss their traded items and ways of making tons of isk.

It used to be better in the old forums. There were actually meaningful and interesting discussions going on back then. In the new forums at first the activity just dropped off altogether and nowadays it is indeed a bit difficult to see anything interesting. There are some really good stuff from time to time but I would not go as far as to say that it happens every week.

I agree and I remember, but I don't think the lack of interesting discussions is the fault of the loan threads.

Maybe the change occured when they moved the market discussions forum from it's old hidey hole in to a more prominent position, allowing the attention challenged to find their way to it more easily.

Maybe the change occured when the new forums were introduced and we lost the ability to make lengthy posts without being subjected to forum software failures.

Maybe the change occured when Shar Tegral stopped posting.

Who knows?

I don't think taking a large chunk of the remaining content out of this forum section is going to improve things much.

It did , i remember the cries to keep it at the bottom.Must have been around 2008ish i think. The decent citizens of MD didn't want regular plebs to come onto their forum as such they found their own niche spot , the Ebank forums.

How did that turn out again .... ? Big smile

Anyway for the last say 5 years MD has been the same as it is now and every so often we got someone asking to move the loans.Tell me OP why do you think there would be much more discussion going on when we remove the biggest part of this forum , specifically if you look at how the forums in general are being used a LOT less frequent then in the old days.Look at CAOD or C&P compared to 6 years ago to get an idea of what MD would look like then.

There's only one thing i do miss from the old forums , that is the days MD on the old forums was at the bottom .

Shar tegral , the way that guy worked with words was verry entertaining.I didn't agree with him every time but i loved his every post just for the way it was written.

No it would not be more appropriate.

Have you see the players that cannot tell the difference between a Want and a Sell?.
If anything the loans require a sub-forum, otherwise they should remain at the market discussions.

Also this gal

To the OP: besides the need for discussions, bond threads are active for months, sometimes many months, without being artificially bumped. For all their duration, thet serve as useful documentation for what transactions took place at what time. Therefore it is practical that they can be found within in a forum's first few pages.
If anything, a special IPO and bond subforum should be erected.

You must not being paying attention to this sub forum very much. It's been like this for years. MD had some occasionally interesting discussions, but mostly it was just a game of rep grinding for investment scams. Once the big boys burned their bridges, it turns out, there weren't many non-scamming or unscammed posters.
