Getting standings by tagging along

I saw someone looking for another person that was running L4 missions so they can tag along and get standing.

Is this an effective way to get standing, so i can get to L3's or L4's?

How much does this usually cost?

Usually someone does that for a couple of reasons.

1 - don't have the time to build up standings themselves.

2 - want to repair negative standings.

I don't think it's done so much anymore. There's a lot of various options that are much easier to do that achieve the same results.

Since you're looking to get to level 3 / 4 missions quickly, I suggest training up the Social skills and work the Event Agent missions. They give Faction standing increase and after getting +5.00 standing you'll have access to almost every available agent within that Faction.

Might wanna check out 'The Plan' for that. It can be used to help boost positive standings as well as repair negative standings.

For a new player it can be very effective to gain standings by "leeching" of a level 4 mission runner. However, do you really need that much standing as for higher missions you also need better ships to run them.

Usually doesn't cost a thing, you just have to find someone who is willing to share his mission rewards with him.

i'm not completely noob, i do have 10mil SP

I have heavy missiles to 5, so I think i can fly a decent drake for L3's. and I can save up for L4's.

I'm already doing L2's, idk how long it will be till i can move on, but I wanna get to L4's asap. Wouldnt mind buying a plex to purchase a big shiny carebear ship

Just a heads up, SP is not a metric of newbishness. Someone with 50 million can still be a newb and someone with 5 mill might not be.

Hi there, I'm exactly the kind of person that will asplode your ship (and possibly pod).
Don't rush Into lvl 4s they are tough on a low skilled pilot, work on your support skills I.e. cap and tank beforehand.
Drone skills should not be ignored get teck 2 drones asap as the kind of ship required for a lvl 4 will need them to gave even a hope of surviving any kind of PvP engagement (which will happen, even in high sec).

Train the "Social" and "Connections" skills. These will get you to higher levels much faster.

along with some social skills

you will need a good tank, and effective weapon skills

Level 3 missions -- use a battle cruiser
Level 4 missions -- use a battleship

drake -> raven will work well with the skills you have already trained

if you do run into problems whilst missioning, you can always try looking in the "helpmymission" channel
also have a look on their website for some additional info

[edit]

you may also want to browse the corp ads
look for a corp that says it offers mission running & new pilot friendly
that way you can get decent help & guidance all at the same time

One thing to keep in mind. I run L4s in Battleships. I'm not looking for Drakes as partners. I need frigates to keep the NPC frigates off of me. Battleships are nearly helpless against frigates if they get close. I saw a Rifter kill a Megathron once. The Megathron pilot was a fool to start that battle.
