Hijacking Ships.

Blowing up ships is overrated. I mean, sure it's nice to see someone spouting abuse at you from their lonely little pod, but....what if you could do more? What if there were even MORE tears for you to harvest? The only thing worse then having your ship blow up is having someone flying away in your ship.

And I think I've come up with way to do that while maintaining balance. The thing is, you can't have ship hijacking be easy, or else, why would anyone do anything else?

So, right off the bat, in order to even START hijacking a ship, the ship you're trying to hijack has to be:

1. Neuted out (Cap boosters present a problem here, but there are ways around it)

2. Unable to Warp, for whatever reason.

3. possessing less than 30% shields, armor and hull.

Once all of these conditions are met, you can start to hack the ship. The goal is to force the pod to eject, by sending a message that looks like it originated from the pod itself to the ship. This process makes the area around the pod hot and too dangerous to enter for X Minutes (X being whatever CCP decides the time should be). This is to prevent the person you ejected from just jumping right back into the ship and making you start over, and giving him time to scream to his buddies for help.

Of course, sending that message isn't going to be easy. First off, you have to have have your buddies sending lots of junk information into the ship. This requires at least three people (to make sure you don't have someone in an Uber ship stealing ships all by himself. After that, you have to hack (I assume CCP would just use the hacking minigame for this, although they could easily use something entirely different) into the ship, and hacking like this is a messy job. The ship is NOT intended to operate this way. Things start to overheat, badly. This permanently ruins random modules of the ship. The longer the hack takes, the more modules aren't going to get wrecked by the heat. And if you take too long, the ship itself might explode, which is...not quite what you were going for.

So, what do you guys think? Is this a workable idea, or have I been drinking too much mercury?

Eve is famous for allowing theft. But stealing caps, even titans? No.

Fair enough. Lets say that Titans and Caps are too complex to hack, then.

The only thing that pops into my mind right now is....suicide hacking

Lowering the average to make you look better since 2012.

Lets have the "blob" actually have to cough up isk to replace ships shall we. Sure its not working out 100% perfect but they do have to use some profits to keep fleets up. It made test stfu for a bit after last year so it has had some success lol.

vice with this...well there is the blob swarming to steal caps. They can buy their own damn caps (edit...reread and saw you removed caps....BS fleet replacements then...they can be pricey too)

Same for ransom pirates and such. Don't need piewats with an easy out when marks won't pay for ransom.

if you look at eve's history of conflicts especially with regards to the great war, you will find that the theft of caps and super caps actually happened and even today its not impossible for that to happen regardless of the idea put forward by the op.

to the op, I had a similar idea myself a while ago but didn't post about it due to issues it may cause. Yes it is an amusing idea which could bring forth a lot of tears but as already said suicide hacking...... this would actually save those that attack high sec haulers who love to be gank targets to get space jacked. suicide ganking in my eyes is screwed up as it is and this would make it a lot worse, however if it was a mod not allowed to be used in high sec and had a rather harsh skill curve I wouldn't have a problem seeing it come into the game and by harsh I mean a 0.5% chance of success per level of the skill.

Yeah… no. Let's not implement this in to eve, shall we? Thanks.

I'm sure he was referring to stealing them via the hijacking, since he said that theft is common in eve. I disagree with hijacking, it would have an adverse effect on the market and pvp.

*sigh* old suggestion, got shut down (with counter arguments) and locked for redundancy ...

Anyone else wanna bump this with unnecessary posts ?!

And to repeat everyone from those threads: No to kicking out an player from his ship - however elaborate the scheme/mechanic.
