Would it be considered terrorism if for some reason you attacked some alliance SOV for :reasons: but never taking it? Like just trashing all the structures and leaving the system empty because your cause is just to cause trouble to your "enemy"?

Here was an interesting suggestion though does not address how a null corp wouldn't use the same tactics. I think concept of terrorism exists where one side has stricter ethical standards of warfare than the other. In EVE I'm not sure that's possible.

Quote from the article:
Quote:
What we need is space terrorism. Asymmetrical warfare. I should be able to get ten reasonably well-skilled pilots and go put a dent in CFC's jump bridge network, or **** up N3's moon goo production, or somehow cost the power blocs money and power the same way small guerrilla groups can in the real world. There is no game mechanic to support a true insurgency. Some of the pieces are present, but it's not like I can assassinate a titan pilot or fly a cargo hauler loaded with explosives straight into a control tower.

It's not gonna happen because the "good" side (the one being attacked by these "terror" action don't need morals in the game so they would just use the same technique with the advantage of numbers.

Creating yourself more enemies because of your action is an issue IRL that prevent country like the US from using their numbers in a raw way because it's hard to tell the press you are bombing a country into a parking for good reason. In EVE, you don't have such limitation. Carpet bombing a country because they ahrbor terrorist is a not that great of an idea if it means 40 other countries turn on you for using such barbaric forces. Doing it in EVE is content creation.

As Schmata said, people preying on nullsec renters are the closest you can get to terrorists in EVE.

1) they often do more damage with fear than with actual ganks

2) I guess some of them may have what you could call a 'political agenda' - for example to convince renters that renting is not worth it and/or that their landlords screwed them; possibly to point them towards the other landlords

Disrupting people who have rent to pay is probably a kind of terrorism. It's like getting lost in the woods. People who are not on a schedule are least likely to panic. Those who are thinking about ending up in the news, not showing up at work, and the potentiality of the state sending them the bill for the fuel for the search helicopter is apt to make the lost woodsman step up his pace and search for the path even more frantically, making him more lost, which will.......

I still want self destruct to inflict AOE damage.

I wear my goggles at night.

AFK cloaking should get a buff - add a skill / module so after a number of hours logged on in a system without leaving it you can see all corp chat messages sent by anyone in that system.

The New Order or w/e it's called is the right activity - but much like RL terrorists, they would argue they are 'idealists'.

The term terrorism totally depends on who you are asking. The tactic is used constantly in legitimate warfare in hisec, you just don't see people calling it such because in EvE there are no 'rules' - thus, terrorism (breaking the rules of honorable engagement) is not possible since said rules don't actually exist.

Food for Thought.

Ok, that makes sense (along with people who posted similar responses). I can see how freedom fighter can equal terrorist to the opposing side. Smile

Id say the sansha incursions are terroists. if you watch the incursions trailer the sansha leader is text book bond villain and kind of reminds me of Kane from the brother hood of nod - command and conquer.

Define "terrorist."

I'm surprised it took to page 3. They are the only people that can clear a 0.0 system just by being there or fill the forum with threads from the fearful masses.

a terrorist is a freedom fighter, that is fighting against you and not for you... That's the rub.
