Crius - Feedback on industry UI (bucket list)

  • CCP please tone down the blinkies and flashies in the UI before someone gets an epilepsy attack. Ranging from job in progress blinkies to the main screen random blinkies. I use the interface to manage and run my industry jobs, not get bedazzled by the shinies. Infact, it'd be greatly appeciated if you could implement an option that removes all the effects altogether.
  • Inability to minimize the main graphical interface interferes when you're trying to manage the listing screen. This is even more evident in lower resolutions.
  • Bad icon design for ME and TE. I'm sure the designer appreciates squinting his eyes over 1/4 of the icon to check and see if it's a male or female.
  • Seconds added to the job status simply clutters up the interface. It's simply unecessary (imo) to go into that level of granularity.
  • Team interface - too many functions missing. Proper filters, ability to see bids ... etc. Nuff said.
  • Please make the interface remember the last state. I'd prefer a default to Jobs tab (more often brought up for my usage case) rather than Blueprints tab.
  • History could use a "Delivery date" column. This is important to locate what had been just delivered - else you'll have to muck around and waste time with the various end dates which can be out of order.

Is there a way to bulk process inventory jobs yet that I am too blind to see?

You can bulk deliver jobs (if you have more than one to deliver, there's a button down at the bottom of the window)

You can't bulk install.

The bulk deliver is deliver all jobs though; it ignores the selected jobs. Previously you were able to bulk deliver a selected subset of jobs, so this is a regression in functionality.

I've been very impressed with the new Industry UI and after couple of hours testing, there are few things that would improve my experience with it:

1) Ability to 'simulate' blueprints I don't own.
Right now I have to own either a BPO or BPC in order to generate a material cost quote (or to 'launch' the UI). However if I'm trying to expand and figure out what to produce, I have to search out for 3rd party tools to figure out which BPOs purchase/research/invent.

It would help me a lot if I could, within the current industry UI, simulate e.g. a frigate T2 BPC to find out if it's profitable or not. It would also be nice to be able to modify ME and TE in this simulated blueprint.

2) Materials (components, ect.) on the left side of the UI should show estimated cost per single unit as well.
Right now it only shows the estimated total value of for example 21 Linear shield Emitters. However market shows price per unit and I have to recalculate every single material to see the current cost. Being able to see estimated cost of a single material unit would speed up the evaluation process a lot.

Need to fix the greyed out blueprints that are in use. I don't need to see which blueprints are in production when I can simply go to the Job tab to look it up.

I actually quite like being able to see all my available blueprints on a single tab. Possibly put in a filter to show only available blueprints?

You can kinda do 1 at the moment. If you can get a link for the blueprint (market, autolink in a chat channel) you can right click it, and 'use blueprint')

It's not great, and CCP have said they're going to work up a proper simulation mode, at some point.

I liked all of the changes basically except for the teams and these are my thoughts on them.

I like the idea but I think there are several improvements that are needed:

1) A 2 day timer till a team leaves is too short, I do many jobs that take 3 days. I suggest moving it to 1 week at least or maybe just do away with it all together.

2) Enable us to tag them so we can watch them without having to scroll through every single one again.

3) Change the bidding to be like contracts, do not have an exact time shown when it ends since currently the best way to get them is to snipe them so unless you can sit at your computer all day it is pointless to even bid on them. Maybe have it like ebay where no one but the highest bidder knows the max bid and you are only charged the amount it stops at not the amount you bid.

When looking at a blueprint in the new industry UI; specifically the material list, allow me to drag any item icon list down to chat for a link of said item.

There is also a view in industry button in the market interface and the show info window for blueprints. You can get to the blueprint show info via the show info of the produced type too.

If i "show in industry" from a show info of a for example 10/10 blueprint it still shiws as 0/0 in industry

It should show ME / TE for blueprints on contract.

We had an extra task that slipped from Crius but will make it in a follow up release this year, and that's the ability to modify the ME and TE manually to see what it would do to the build requirements / time etc. Would that work for you in this case?

Yes! Works for me! I mostly make T1 rigs and I don't know how much research is needed (I suspect ME 10) before I see any reduction in wastage on my BPOs.

Still getting used to the UI, I happened to miss that option, thank you.

However since I can't edit ME and TE of that blueprint, it doesn't help much in evaluating total costs :(.

I'm very much looking forward to a proper simulation mode that would allow me to modify ME and TE.

ABSOLUTELY. that would be very much appreciated.

...just make it clear to folks its' a simulation rather than "you get to decide the me/te of a blueprint!", as the preview mode within the blueprint window is subtle.

on a more general UI note, would it be possible to make it so i can copy/paste from the various lists within the industry window?

since the api endpoint doesn't expose blueprint stats beyond existence, i can't determine me/te levels. its' one of those things i have to do manually, which makes me sad.

while i am dreaming of UI changes, what i would really like to see is some way to 'compact' the blueprint list.

what i have in mind is something like a tree view, along the same lines of the market. but with one additional level: me or te.

right now for example i have 367 blueprint copies in my build pile. the filter helps but something a little more graphical would make it easier for me to get a "birds eye view" of my stockpile.
