Skill to give a chance to recover unplugged implants

I had an idea for a skill to give a percentage chance to recover implants removed when unplugged. Starting at 0% at level zero and increasing 7.5% per level of skill trained was thinking it would be a rank 5 training time.

Thoughts?

What happens if I unplug my implants while I'm sitting in a pod, in space?

And guess what, others before you had the same idea.

Do you even know what an implant is?

I think part of the problem is that people have this idea that implants are like SD Cards - you just plug them into a slot in the back of your skull,a nd viola, human 2.0. In that respect, it makes sense that you should be able to unplug them.

However, that's really not what they are. Implants are (IIRC) surgically implanted (thus the name) and hardwired to your brain. Removing them would be like cutting out a part of your brain - sure, you can do it, but no one with any sense is really going to do that, the risks are too great.

I would say if you really want this, in addition to a percentage chance of getting the implant, you have a percentage chance to permanently damage that attribute by one point - and the two chances are unrelated. Meaning you could get no implant, and still lose the point.

This reflects the inherent risks involved in brain surgery.

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

That sounds like a very good idea, as for Swiftstrike's post it would have to be in stations due to the facilities needed for the operation to remove the implant.

Exept you can already unplugg implants with no brain dmg (in space if you like), so there is no problem with pilots ability to do brain surgery on the fly :P

As a counter, i suggest a chance to get implant parts (those thats used in craftable implants). This would mean that most (bought from LP) are still an isk sink, and it would open up for more player made implants in the future due to more supply of materials

I could probably get behind this idea, but I still think it should have some significant drawbacks

Rather than unplugging them for yourself, Let use reprocess corpses for a shot at their implants.

+1 for corpse salvaging!

Would also solve OP's problem: self-destruct pod, try to salvage your own corpse. Bonus creepy points, too!
