95% of their funding was raised without Kickstarter so I think they can shrug off the blame for this one.

People continued to wheelbarrow their cash over the edge of the cliff long after all of the billboards and hucksters left the stage and the lights were turned off. They've no one to point a finger at but themselves.

I've been hearing about this game but never looked into it... Wait you can't actually play the game? I thought it was some kind of playable beta.

That's a sentiment people might want to consider announcing every now and then.

The squealers can quit, and good riddance. I'm sure every upcoming game needs it's share of hysterical flouncers. Those of us who chose to stay and bellyache deserve a bit more than being labelled 'bittervets'. Occasionally we make helpful remarks.

@ OP, it's a private company and they don't need to tell us what they spend their money on. Although the FinStats do paint a picture. We're stakeholders rather than shareholders, or to put it more plainly, customers rather than owners. CCP might have overextended themselves a few years back, but they are clearly amending that now. I'm quite impressed they funded EvE via a board game and built it into the success it is, rather than taking millions from a kickstarter in an overhyped venture. I hope SC falls flat on it's face and bounces down every step on the way after the attitude of some of it's promoters here.

How is an example that has nothing in common with EVE “better”?

To argue, most of the spade's and buckets are being held ransom by Mittens and N3 while they yell at us that the game mechanics arent giving out enough spade's and buckets and that we should be mad at CCP for not putting more in. Instead of you know, letting everyone have some shovels and buckets to have fun. Because apparently you HAVE to hold half the game and kill off anyone who wants to grow large enough to someday challenge you, and apparently its not their fault if they do that, its CCP's.

now sure, we can go play in the other sandbox's, but when every other sandbox has a big sign planted in the center telling us the first sandbox is better and more fun, the whole thing becomes somewhat dull.

hough this entire post i suppose just argues one line you made without actually supporting the OP with anything relevant at all. Oh well.

Wait, am I missing out on another SC fanboi thread?

Edit: Looks like I'm not but I'm going to vomit all over the place anyways.

Because uhh... I kickstarted SC too, so I can confirm that the whole project is nothing but a shitebasket of incompetence and customer buggery.

I've never seen a game go from a reasonable proposal from an indy studio to full-on megaconglomerate Nazism is such a short period of time, and abuse their customers so blatantly and without shame for exorbitant amounts of money in exchange for digital items.

Not even online casinos try this crap.

If the video game industry were a playground and EA was the big bully, RSI was the quiet kid who buried the bully behind the groundskeepers shed without anyone noticing the violent dismemberment or spine-chilling screams, and then took over his turf with mafia-quality blackmail tactics, inflation and protection rackets.

And it's not the fact that they're doing it that really bothers me. It's seeing how many people willingly dole out more and more money for a non-existent game while trying to control their rampant and painful priapism brought on by the careful marketing and propaganda, which is easily fact-checked and proven false on a regular basis. Just the idea that people aren't screaming "WHOA WHOA JE*** HOLY **** MAN! SLOW DOWN AND PLEASE TAKE YOUR FINGERS OUT OF BOTH MY WALLET AND MY SPHINCTER!" at every turn is horrifying.

I really wish I was that smart. If I knew how, or had the willpower to strip myself of my humanity, to shear sheep like RSI I'd own a pacific island for every day of the week by now.

As much as i hate the star citizen guys, Am i bad that I think the quiet kid in your analogy sounds like a badass? I mean shite. Kid knows how to get ahead in the industry XD

There is a "combat module" which lets you fly your buggy half-finished ships in a single environment with Battlefield style "You're leaving the combat area" invisible walls during single player or in multiplayer you can watch other people's ships spin by you in an uncontrollable death spiral as you manically exchange wild shots that don't come anywhere near each other's targets, because you're likely performing a 720 no-scope on their screen every half a second also.

They decided they didn't know how to develop an MMO so they brought in another development team, Behaviour Interactive, who are well known for their shovelware, their shovelware, and their gratuitously shoveled shovelware that barely passes as functioning software, let alone games that can be played.

BI's claim to MMO fame is the project Warhammer 40000: Eternal Crusade. which was announced a whole year after Star Citizen's Kickstarter, and has yet to be released. But don't worry, pre-order now and you can play the "combat module!" All you have to do is purchase a founder's pack and pick which race(s) you want, because they have been neatly sectioned off into easily purchased divestments that you are welcome to acquire at your convenience.

Noticing a theme yet?

Oh, and I'd like to apologize to all of the Warhammer fans out there. I understand how hard it is to watch Games Workshop wh*re out the license to every Tongue, **** and Hairy that comes by waving a banker's cheque.

I'm just glad I paid the minimum for a copy of the game during the kickstarter and nothing more. It's been worth it just to watch the gestation of this monster, but I knew my money was wasted long ago.

If you work in accounting or finance, you should have an easier time reading this. This is where CCP is spending their money. R&D increased a little over three fold in 2013 from 2012, and if you compare how much they are spending on development further back in 08-10 you'll notice they are really increasing their spending. That should suggest CCP is working on something big at a glance.

Could someone please take a look at article 16.1, subject "Changes in share capital", focusing on the column "Total number of Shares*" with the footnote "*Each share is 1 ISK" and calmly explain to me what that means?...

40k will eb **** simply because, games workshop will DEMAND nerfs to every race but space mariens because "the few the proud, the space marines", then at the same time tell BI to turn a blind eye to the fact that 90% of the players were rolling space marines anyways long before everything else was nerfed.

any 40k game thats pvp that isnt a lobby shooter will be a joke simply because there will always be too many goddamn blueberry mary-sues griping that their chainsaw mark 2-billion can kill tree-hundwed and fifty other players solo.

No one to feel sorry for, all the rational 40k fans stopped looking at new games and additions long ago.

*EDIT* actually, looking at BI's history, I did thoroughly enjoy Mercenaries, was a fun little 3rd person shooter. funny, explosive, and a reason to actually replay it every now and then. I only wish BI had put Mercenaries on Steam so i could play it now that my xbox is dead.

why would I want to buff highsec, i hate highsec. What i dont like is that there arent even enough unique players in the game to get into null without approval, much less actually fight the off the coalitions. mechanics that encourage the coaltiions to **** off into a bloody rumble would be a buff to nullsec and the little guy.

I'm telling ya, SC and that "be a good space citizen" crap is not going to go down well. Much of the Western civilization is falling to lawlessness at high levels (gov, police, etc.) and everybody is starting to feel like being a goodie two shoes "good citizen" is to be a turbo chump now.

Hence this will reflect, because logging into a game that's all about being or becoming some good citizen is not going to go well. The genre is going to lean towards dystopia and people becoming outlaws to survive in lawless (or failed) states. A game with the theme like SC would have done well in the 1990s, but not now and not in the near future.

Bring back DEEEEP Space!
