Have and icon on the portrait in local showing if the person has a publicly purchasable kill-right? Like the suspect flag.

Thoughts?

A lot, yes. But I think it could be a little boost for bounty hunters and pvp'ers. Plus make life harder for the occasional misfit.

So, remove all tags (including things like criminal flags) from the local list?

Or just, y'know, turn this on in your overview.

Doesn't help with local chat, but why do you care if someone is in system but docked and AFK?

Someone might buy it and wait at station? Carebear sees criminal in local and tries his luck? Bountyhunting profession getting a boost?

If someone had tradeable killrights on my main, I'd be paranoid. It's reverse griefing ;)

They will turn into a killmail most likely.

Doesn't that overview whatsit only turn on when you get on grid with the person? I never understood why it doesn't just show up in local remotely.

And no, it would make ganking harder not easier.

I think you and I have very different definitions for "help."

Yeah, it doesn't appear in local, only on the overview.

Yeah no, would not.

It would also not help if we had the ability to sort by sec.

Well, it might help those who actually look,
but these people will most like already know who to look for anyway.

The rest ... doesn't look.

When a victim isn't looking, the biggest and brightest "MORON GTFO!" on screen won't save him. (:

it'd make it easier to abuse absurdly expensive public killrights set by my alt in order to make me rich, i approve of this.

Nothing is stopping you from placing a 25% fine on gankers.

Here's my thought: It would help if people actually turned the feature on and used it.
If you go through your overview settings, you will find a toggle to have people with killrights show up in your overview. I believe that toggling it on also causes them to show up in local or there must be something else to turn on, because they also appear in my local list. The one HUGE catch is that you have to select their ship in space or on overview before it works (unlike things like standings or security status).

Does the feature help with suicide ganking? I think it does. I have managed to locate and destroy numerous ships using it and I am pretty sure that my incessant usage of said feature has lead some people to resort to docking up when I enter local. So, they can't gank when they are in a capsule or docked.

The real question that I think you should ask yourself is why CCP should "help with suicide ganking" and how much "help" you think they should render. And, how much "help" do you think we, as players should render? It's our problem, after all, not CCP's.
