so often you see 100m+ ISK or even a billion ISK pod kills floating around. I do have to ask, how does these people support such pods?

I mean the 50m ISK +3 learning implant pod I fly is expensive enough to replace how does these people cope?

Flying around highsec with minimal expectation of getting podded, even for years at a time. That's how, generally.

Well, if you can make a couple of billion a day with what you do, losing a billion pod isn't a problem.

Also, some ships it's kind of "mandatory" to have such a pod to use the ship at its full potential.
Say a titan / supercarrier pilot, why use a naked clone when you already fly a multibillion ship in the first place.
That last billion for the implants is pocket change.

To some people, a billion here or there isn't a real big deal.

Probably the same way people who're flying around 1b+ ISK ships everyday do? What?

If I would lose 1bil pod everyday you could ask how can I support that, if I lose it once a year there's no "supporting" to speak about.

If you keep getting podded daily with 1 bil pods and you're not in null/WH space you're doing it wrong. To answer your question the pods are supplied by the RMT operations of the blue donut with their moongoo stash. All goons down to the newbie that can only fly frigates have mid-grade pirate implants and dies to friendly smart bombs.

In lowsec, pod death is relatively uncommon so long as you're reasonably careful. You'll lose the odd one or two due to bad luck or lapses of attention, but you can reasonably expect to get your pod out. After a while, pod preservation techniques become a reflex action.

The only people I see lose pods on a regular basis are either those new to pvp, or those used to living in nullsec. Whenever a large nullsec alliance joins FW to farm militia kills, it pretty much begins to rain pods, as a large portion of their members are used to fighting in bubbles and just sit there waiting to be podded.

Even though I could afford to lose billion ISK pods on a regular basis I do not fly them because:

1) I really do not care about SP, if I want SP I buy a character on the bazaar. SP obsession is a bad thing.

2) The downside of getting podded with a shiney pod is not the loss of ISK, a billion ISK is pocket money barely more than a PLEX. The real issue is the fact that the corp that podded you is likely to watchlist you hoping to get another one and become a real PITA in your day to day ops.

Also bare in mind that its pretty uncommon to lose a pod unless your in a bubble. Also people running missions for low ISK/LP corps will often buy implants with LP for resale so if they lose a pod they just plug in spares from stocks.

Nobody with a pod that expensive is going to lose it willy nilly. Unless they are one of those people who thinks they are Space Snoop Dawg.

Meh. When flying a 15 or 20B isk bling fit mission Machariel, the high grade implants are just icing on the cake.

People buy them with real money via PLEX.

I do not like the men on this spaceship. They are uncouth and fail to appreciate my better qualities. I have something of value to contribute to this mission if only they would realize it. - Bill Frug
