As we rat the systems and run level 4's we are often presented with NPC structures and deteriorating wrecks from lore and the like. Why not make those viable resources? Old damaged station drone infested. Clear drone then bring in a savage crew and take it.

Structural points: x
Salavge Time: y
Units recieved of resource: (tritanium,or parts, or something)

I ran level 4's where the ship hulks sitting in the location trippled the size of my domi. Why can't I salavge that? Add more sand to the box?

Just an idea, let me know what you think. Maybe I'm way off the reservation on this one. - not a numbers guy myself.

Just because we currently have the technology to salvage structural components from remote objects (wrecks) doesn't mean we should be able to salvage structural components from remote objects ('static' wrecks and abandoned or destructed installations).

If what I just said makes no sense, then...mission accomplished.

The number-crunching of adding a large resource pool into the existing salvaged materials stream aside; yes, this suggestion does make perfect sense.

Why not, sounds like a good idea for me. Already you can mine the hell out of missions and anomalies so why not salvage too.

Anyway... you got me back some to some 6 or 7 years ago. I was still a noob who fitted guns of various optimal ranges "to cover all the blind spots". I was flying a Myrmidon back then and one older player approached me with a suggestion to join his corp in order to do missions together - he was in some faction battleship I think ... I no longer remember which one.

Anyway, he said that his ship was good enough for us to be able to do level 4 missions and since he was an old player, he also told me that he knew level 4 missions are paid better in lowsec. So the two of us went into lowsec to do level 4 missions - a Myrmidon and a faction battleship. The funny thing is - we farmed the missions for a whole evening without any issues What?.

I was returning to the agent to get another mission while he waited in the next system. When I returned to the system, he told me to warp to him and that he wanted to "show me something". When I landed, there was a ruined station floating in space which looked scary and amazing. He told me that he has been gathering materials to repair it and that it will be his station soon. I didn't know if that was possible, but he reassured me that it was "because it was in lowsec".

It's still, after all these years, the most powerful first impression about the game that I remember.

Moral of the story.

Back in the day, I did a level 1 or 2 mission against the Sansha with a friend, can't remember what it was.

But there was a Sansha Outpost in it, and we both thought that it must hold some very valuable loot....

It took 4 hours for two destroyers to blow that thing up, and all we got was some fertilizer and generic ammo.

Was a complete waste, but man we had fun destroying that station one tiny laser hole at a time.

Eons ago they could be sploded for lewtz. Good loot too, not the generic trash we get now. It's why the War Stations have such high hit points. Then came nerf bat.

I think they automatically ignore ideals not posted in Features and Ideas.

And they ignore ideas posted in F&I not automatically but just because they don't care about them :)

Anyway, it was proposed at least once sth about 2 years ago I think. Of course it is long lost into vast abyss of forums history and nobody remembers about it anymore. Or maybe it is forgotten in one of those threads where all ideas got grouped together with promise of "better visibility" and shot in the head shortly after.

Yeah, I like the OP's idea too but it goes against Soundwave & Co's 'War On Gun Mining'.

Also why can't we board and commandeer the ships in those sites that are docked at Shipyards and Cargo Rigs or at the very least have them become salvageable wrecks holding loot when destroyed.

I remember back when I first started playing this game, the first time I saw a mission with an Industrial ship sitting next to a Cargo Rig I thought to myself, cool, I can come back in my pod and take that ship. Course I soon found out pods couldn't access Acceleration Gates and more importantly, those ships couldn't be boarded.

Sad

A couple of years ago CCP was working a FPS mode for entering salvage sites and wrecks. Not sure what happened to it.

Now that I think about it, CCP happened.

Made a signature so I am taken seriously on the forums, since thats the only thing they are good for.
