WTF is this BS with the drone avionics skill CCP?

Edit:

After I had some coffee I learned to read and saw the decrease in skill levels was likely a bug and is now confirmed by CCP:

https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=4838181#post4838181

From the Kronos dev blog:

"Finally, we are renaming two drone skills to clarify their roles. The Scout Drone Operation skill is being renamed “Drone Avionics""

When Kronos was deployed I had Scout Drone Operation to 5 and received Drone Avionics 5.

Today I see I only have Drone Avionics 3, and I see this BS in the patch notes:

"In the Kronos release the required skill for Drone Link Augmenters was changed from Combat Drone Operation to Drone Avionics. This was done without ensuring that players who fulfilled the skill requirements of those modules would still do so after the change. In this patch we are bumping up the level of Drone Avionics for all players to the same level that they had Combat Drone Operation when we deployed Kronos. Players who have trained Drone Avionics in the meantime will be given unallocated skillpoints instead up to the amount that their skill would have been adjusted."

WTF is this crap? You convert Skill A to Skill B and then come along weeks later and reduce my level in it because it allowed the use of some module? Where was this announced? How does this make any sense at all. This unannounced skill change you made goes 100% against a published dev blog.

Don't blame CCP for your skill reduction.

You don't appear to have much to begin with.

Necro topic for the win.

I know how to read, I'm saying the premise is crap. CCP says "we are changing the name of Skill A to Skill B". It makes sense that I should get skill B at the same level I had skill A at no? Why should I lose 2 levels of a skill I already trained because they decided to attach some module's prereqs to that skill?

To make that worse it was done without any mention in advance. If they just say they are doing this I could at least train it.

Have you tried the usual things?

You know, clearing your cache, checking the actual value in-game, petitions? Those things that can actually provide some kind of answer or solution, unlike the forums…

Oh, and…

How is clearing my cache going to affect CCP reducing a skill by 2 levels because they decide weeks after Kronos to make an unannounced change that directly conflicts what was published in the Kronos dev blog about drone skill changes?

Largely because they didn't actually do any such change, and the rest is just to ensure that you're actually seeing the correct numbers. There's a reason why “clear you cache” is step #1 on pretty much all problem-solving lists related to EVE.

Confirming I've lost Drone Avionics 5 on 3 characters.

Anyone who had Scout Drone Operation 5 and Combat Drone Operation 4 would have been given Drone Avionics 5 for Kronos, then had it reduced to 4 during this patch.

Of course they made this change, it is spelled out right there in the patch notes. My problem with the change is that it was completely unannounced and it is completely contrary to a published dev blog.

I had Scout Drone Operation V and Combat Drone Operation IV before Kronos and got Drone Avionics V with Kronos.
Today it got reduced to level IV.
Happened on both my characters and got no unallocated SP

Clear your cache and you will probably see that it has dropped down in game as well.
Pre-kronos I had scout drones 5 and combat drones 4 on my main.
Yesterday I had drone avionics 5. Today I have it at 4.
Skill log says "GM Skill Gift" level 4. Some gift huh..

TL;DR.. They changed drone avionics to whatever level we had combat drones at pre-kronos.

No, it's not.

What's spelled out in the patch notes is that in addition to the LDO and MDO skill levels that you gained from your old CDO level in Kronos, you will now also gain the same DAv level. Nothing there contradicts what they did for Kronos, and nothing in it involves a reduction of any skill levels — only an increase.

It's not completely contrary to anything, and it was unannounced because there wasn't really anything to announce: no-one could back and change their training schedule to take advantage of this added bonus.

You're attributing an intended skill reduction that what looks far more like an unintended scripting error: they've taken your old CDO level and just applied it to DAv irrespective of your current level and of what other skills you had that might have influenced that level. This could be as simple (and silly) an error as putting the “set value to…” statement one line too high or low in the script.

And again, have you actually checked this in-game? Have you checked whether you have any unallocated SP? Have you cleared the cache? Have you petitioned it?

Yes, all of the above, and no, no unallocated SP

If this is the case then I'll change my complaint to CCP doesn't know how to write a script because my drone avionics level has dropped to the level I had CDO at on Kronos patch day.
