Shield freighters

Shield freighters could use a lowslot shield module to either increase resists or shield amount. How about something like the shield flux relay, but reduces shield recharge while increasing shield HP?

"Wow, that internet argument completely changed my fundamental belief system," said no one, ever.

Given that the Charon is clearly designed around shield HP, and that the armor tanking freighters get adaptive nanos for armor, I agree in that it seems reasonable that there was some lowslot shield resist module with the same resists as the armor versions, but which could ONLY be fit to freighters/jumpfreighters.

The 'armour tanking' freighters normally get best results from Hull, unless you are dealing with the pure theory officer mod + high grade slaves + boosts freighter.

I never understood the fear of giving Industrial ships actually full fitting options though. They should have the slot number of their similar sized military counterparts so that pilot choice is flexible and matters.

But making a new module and applying crazy restrictions onto it is not the way forward.

Before someone says something along the lines of "use bulkheads" you need to remember that bulkheads reduce your cargo capacity by a great deal while the non-energized armor nanos do not. You still don't get the EHP of using bulkheads, but you also don't lose the cargo space. Although, low-slot shield modules could become problematic in balancing unless restricted to only freighters.

Edit: Nevermind, I got the penalty mixed up with the overdrive injector, bulkheads just reduce speed.

I'm not against this idea but the shield freighters have always been intended to be less tanky the Charon gives it up for cargo and the fenrir gives it up for speed. Like I said I'm not against a shield module and if one was implemented I think I would rather see it up shield recharge rather then ehp this would mean you would rather use high alpha tornados over high doses talos adding more of a dynamic to picking your targets
