Evening Guys

As the title suggests looking for a bit of help and advice as to getting into a Corp.

I know EvE is a social game, warping around space alone isn't all that much banter!

All of the Recruitment pages in EvE seem to be like job applications, "we welcome new players", "1,000,000 SP Required", much like jobs for Junior roles with 3 years experience needed, whats going on Big smile

Im only week into EvE and dont really know what I like doing (yet). Would love to get some advice on a decent CORP that has mature players that dont take it TOO seriously. For example, I may need to AFK, dont want to be "not allowed' etc. I do like the odd rager (who doesnt) but dont fancy being chastised for not knowing all the specs and loadouts.

Im currently working my way through the Epic Arc so dont know where to setup "Home Base" yet either so totally open to moving around.

Are there any recruiters here or anyone that can suggest? Or are there any places I can apply to join where some of the above might appeal to a recruiter?

I dont really know what the info requirements are so if you need to know more about me ask away!

Thanks in advance,

Recruitment is not allowed in this section of the forums but a friendly forum mod might be willing to move the thread for you.

That being said I would suggest EVE Uni if your looking for a teaching corporation. I would also suggest that you read this guide if your looking for a more permanent corp.

Good luck Smile

Issue is that the recruitment on the forum is ONLY allowed in the Recruitment section and not the New Citizen Q&A.

Thus we can't even legally recruit you from here.

And, yes EVE is a social game, but due to the nature of the game joining a corp is much more then just saying: Hey, can I join you.

For help finding a corp look at this guide.

As for which corp to join, it highly depends on what you like to do. A miner should join a mining/industry related corp, a PvP guy wants to join a PvP corp etc. etc. The easiest way to find a corp that suits you is knowing what you like yourself and find a corp that does the same thing as you do.

General corps to look at though:

RvB (either Red Federation or Blue Republic) if you are looking for PvP. Their channel: R-V-B
Brave Newbies Inc is now a slightly bigger corp and newbie friendly yet involved in the whole null-sec stuff.
EVE University if you are looking for a more general training / teaching corp, but be aware, they are known for their lengthy recruitment processing.

Also, keep in mind that to have people who are willing to teach you, you don't have to be in the same corp. There are multiple public channels anybody can join that have people in there that don't mind answering any question you shoot at them, or just use this very special forum for it, it's designed for New player Q&A stuff.

IMHO it's even better to ask the public, you get a broader and more diverse answer compared to when you ask only 1 person and take his answer for the truth (which can be totally wrong).

EDIT:

Damn, ninja'd by NC with her own guide.

No, EVE UNI is NOT for you. EVE UNI, despite all its qualities, is very procedural, you would not enjoy it.
I am like you, i feel what you mean.
The good news is that there are tons of corporations which are like what you seek.
The bad news is that mostly these corporations, with such a human dimension as you describe, don't actively recruit, they don't advertise much in the corpos' subforum.
There are many ways to find a good corpo, and in your case, the forum isn't one.
You could for example, each time you are in a system, open the info window of each characters in local, study their bio, then study their corpo's description.
You could also use the in game "search a corp" tool...
I know EVE is not fun alone, especially for a new player. But take your time to find the right corp for you. It's really worth it.
Maybe winning EVE is simply to find the right community for you.

Don't hesitate to contact me in game, i'll be glad to do what i can to help.

Totally agree.

What I suggest is find some public channels to hang around in and start talking with people / ask questions.

It will get you some "friends" around EVE and from there it isn't rare for doors to open in places you didn't expect there would be doors.

Well, it's not a corp, but some fellow newbies and I are getting along pretty well and going fairly regularly on 'adventures' into low sec near Rens. So if you just want some company with fellow newbies and feel like picking a fight along side us you're always welcome Big smile.

Grrr.

we are claptraps. yes yes its boarderland. but its also a real word. look it up and see if you like it. it fits our corp perfectly.

we live out in true null. (catch) we are part of hero. so that means you need to be willing to have ts3 and mumble.

we have a good strong pvp core so far but we are also looking to expand our pve group so that we can have more fun when we arent out pvping.

the indy update just came out so now its time to try and get some miners as well. its a well nown thing that brave loses ships like there candy to a fat kid. so if you want to build moas and the mods for them you can make some isk out here.

were here to have fun talk **** and forget about the real world. so if your interested in us join our public channel "claptrap loading docks" or those me snow a convo. be warned i do afk while online so dont think we are being rude. we secretly love you.
