http://www.eventhorizon-online.com/ It happened to UO, it happened to EQ, it will happen to wow, and it will happen to Eve.

If this thing actually makes it out the gate, how do you feel it will effect Eve?

OK. Let's start this.

First of all, I don't see any MMO on that page. I see a badly designed web page that's screaming 1990's all over the place (with a big beveled button on top and everything). There are so many great looking free Wordpress themes out there that having a page this bad does not have an excuse whatsoever.

Contact information on "Privacy policy page" says that the location of the business is in a rental apartment. I mean, come on... I live in Serbia where the government takes 78% (well, 78,5% to be more accurate) of whatever you earn and I still have enough to have a proper office as a self employed programmer.

Concept art of that ship seems to be made in Gimp or Fireworks. And it's called "Scimitar" (?) That's funny, because IndieGogo campaign for the concept started today and the first "devblog" was published yesterday and you can already see it in GD of EVE online. Judging by the description and what can be read now on that site, I can bet that whoever created the page is EVE player and there is a possibility that it's the OP (but that one I can't guarantee). I mean, come on... since the first introductory devblog is one day old and Google search for "event horizon online" lists links to online movie services where you can watch "Event Horizon" movie online, there's no way anyone got there randomly through a search engine.

Note to whoever created that page, because there is a possibility you are reading this:
- Wordpress is your friend even if it's just used for concept presentation;
- Responsive design is a standard for 21st century. You want your idea to be read and shared on all devices, not just computer screens;
- Twitter Bootstrap or Foundation CSS are your friends;
- Don't claim that you can support Oculus Rift when you don't even have offices or developers yet.
- As a business owner seeking for investors, you or your company are not listed on LinkedIn. In fact, neither the owner or the company is listed on the official Tampa, FL company registry;
- Never ever write "I" or in first person unless you are working on a personal project;

EVE killer? Hardly. You can get more concepts for a game from EVE's "Features & Ideas" forum, slap it on a Wordpress page, start a crowdfunding campaign and you are (apparently) good to go.

This, even my dead website I sat on for 10 bloody years has a random wordpress theme, I got tired of sitting on a dead website. Site looks like its right out of the 90's and was very hard at a glance to decipher anything. Will not support, but good luck anyway to the game makers. (note I would not support the pyramid scheme either, so its not just you)

OMG Comet Mining idea!!! Comet Mining!

If you looked at the EVE trailer, not knowing it's EVE.. wouldn't you think that it's an EVE killer?

I think concepts of games are a wonderful creative exercise, but it's the actual game itself available for download and ready to play by tens of thousands of people simultaneously that says anything definitive.

Event Horizon... No.

Elite: Dangerous? Yes.

Eve will never die.

There is an old old saying, "old soldiers never die, they merely fade away"

Eve will either in some way retain it's youth, and learn how to encourage people to have fun, or will simply fade, until one day someone says to you, "didn't you use to play eve! That was cool "and discover that it is still going, run out of a bomb shelter, behind the fish warehouse.

(...)

You'd need a pretty damn large bomb shelter to house Tranquility. I wonder what's the bare minimum size for the Tranquility cluster to be functional, but likely is larger than Ultima Online's "run your UO server on any PC you've owned since 2001".

Q: Should we be worried? A: Nope. (...) Worry a lot if Fozzie, Masterplan, Rise, Veritas, Bettik, Ytterbium, Scarpia, Arrow, or even Greyscale leaves. Worry a little if Punkturis, karkur, SoniClover, Affinity, Goliath, or Xhagen leaves.

I just visited the site.

Wow. Some people really don't have a sense of shame. Or about their actual skills.
