Wager your skills, steal others wager results in PVP

Lets gamble over chunks of grey matter. And steal chucks of grey matter. But not permanently.

Poker, Chess, slay (if you have a ps3 you can find it in PS at home), duels, ship spinning, data/archaeology racing, scan probe racing, most killmails, who can rat the fastest... something more inventive, it doesn't matter. What we need is risk to drive gameplay.

We've got more at our hands than just spaceships, modules and isk. We've got skillpoints, security status, standings, POSes, outposts, . You could lose a game of poker and lose a 5% bonus to your rail damage for a week, while the capsuleer you lost to gains 5% above his curent skill level. And with each person you win at poker with, you get declining returns much the same we do with stacking damage mods. Noobies can get more returns with level 1 skills, Veterans less with level 5.

And you can steal that boost someone received through gambling via PVP. Capture the pilot, pin him down with a warp scrambler, run a data analyzer on his implants while he's trying to tear through your shields... and steal that extra 5% bonus his capsuleer mind-linked implant is providing for the next 3 days. The other capsuleer doesn't have to know it's going to the wrong person. Maybe have an incentive for catch and release.

And that's how you get your gunnery skills to 6 (For a week, plus 10,000,000 isk, and +2 to your charisma. Or maybe -2 to your charisma, there's got to be a drawback), until I stole it back from you 3 days in.

Unfortunately, this is alts online.

This would create fields of alts with the single purpose of losing to a main and boosting his skills to silly levels.

Possible restrictions:
No boosts to/from the same account
Repeated boosts from the same capsuleer have timed declining returns towards ALL skills. Taking into account 3 characters per account.
The total number of skills stolen is restricted at any one time.
Have a cooldown period on the pilot to all capsuleers to even receive the boosts, be they gambled or stolen
Stolen boosts are not as effective as gambled.
Skill stealing requires the victim being in a pod, maybe just their ship is into structure.

There's surely a more clever way to prevent alt boosting beyond one boost.

Tie borrowing skills to a reduced skillpoint gain. Sure, you can get that extra 5 percent damage, or that 10% less jump fuel use... but your attributes are getting a flat subtraction across the board equivalent to the skillbook skill level. Level 1 book? minus 1 to all attributes. Level 14 book? Well, better choose wisely what skill you want temporarily boosted, because your link cant handle it. You're losing skill points for that week and it might take you down a level to where you cant use that gun anymore.

F&I continues to find new ways to appall me.

Just when I think I have seem just about every misguided, poorly thought out idea imaginable, someone manages to either find something new or blend multiple other bad ideas into an unholy smoothie of an idea.

No on trading SP. Never, ever, in any form.

No to bonuses beyond lv V. Things get really silly when you start tacking on additional ROF reductions for example.

No to a system that directly enables a player to boost a single char by continuously siphoning off the stats from multiple alts.

As always, think about how it can be broken, then patch the break, then repeat till you have idea that won't be shattered faster than a china display at a bull rodeo. This idea, having more holes than pipe organ, is nowhere near.

This has to be the worst idea ever posted.

How can you, not even for a second, think about how this would be abused while writing it?

Jint Hikaru - Miner / Salvager / Explorer / SpaceBum In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Troll on Steroids.

Seriously, how is this not totally broken ? The smallest objection would be, that, if you lose enough PG or CPU your mods would shut off mid flight/fight. Another 'minor' issue could be you lose a requirement to fly the ship and get ejected. I am not even getting into exploits here.
Sometimes I am amazed how someone who can write is incapable of thinking logically and draw/follow conclusions, but then again having knowledge and being intelligent are two different things.

Wow what an idea! It's not like it couldn't break anything is it?

I mean no one is going to roll half a dozen alts and then after some interesting breeding behaviour with large weapons quaff and strippers, and 6 now empty hulks, take superman out and destroy half the universe with his superpowers are they?

Oh he's dressed as clark kent while he is melting planets, Thats all right then.

When the exploit is in the original post, well one can only say Try harder. 0/10RollBlink

However it was worth it for the unholy smoothie of an idea comment :)
