Injecting some fun into EVE

Hey guys, I'm trying to come up with some ideas to make EVE more fun for all of its user base.

I'm testing the waters for the following event: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=359073

Check it out, and let me know what you think.

I'd like to see there be more fun, large scale events, in EVE--and more frequently.

Also, ideas for other fun events would be appreciated.

Looks like a fun idea! Unfortunately you posted this in GD where serious posts are very much frowned upon.

Well, that's part of the draw...

I suspect many Leopards will die that day... all in good fun, though!

Why only highsec and lowsec?

Include nullsec too to introduce the possibility of bubbles. That creates more decision making for participants.

Sounds like an event where a covert ops ship would come in handy.

Did I say only high-sec/low-sec? It'd be a race across the entire EVE Universe. Ideally, this would include null-sec space. Bubbles, gate camps, nukes, the whole sha-bang!

Not quite as handy as the cyno alt, but yeah covops would be one good choice if you are willing to sacrifice some speed for more security.

Travel fit interceptor would be good.

Yep my mistake. You didn't say highsec.

So why only lowsec and not also highsec and nullsec?

I re-read my post, and saw that I had suggested it would only hit low. That was my mistake.

The ideal race would be across High, low, and null. Although, now that I think about it, I'm not quite sure how to work that out logistically. Are there any POS stations in null that are open to everyone? Or would I have to find someone to set one up? Ugh

There are npc nullsec regions anyone can dock in. Sov regions, depends, but best to assume no docking ability. But why would anyone need to dock?

If they need to refit, they should carry a mobile depot.

Ah, I was unaware that there were NPC stations in null. Sweet, so that problem is solved.

They would need to dock at the NPC station to complete the contract. (finish the race).

There are NPC nullsec regions, not NPC stations everywhere in nullsec, so just pick an NPC region as your finishing point if you want to finish in nullsec (possibly not the best idea - cynos and people who might be afraid of being stuck in nullsec).

When these things have been done before, they've included the need to screen capture certain points in different systems, so you can be certain that a particular minimum set of systems was flown through, rather than cyno across the universe and win in a few minutes.

Perhaps.

I like your attitude, though you seem to lack knowledge of the mechanics of the game. When there are a few more details about the race I might be in, but we'll see.

That sounds like a lot of fun, seed the start item in multiple HS stations the same distance from the destination, to prevent it from ending before it starts, and only seed it at the start moment.

Do not announce the destination or set up the closing contract, until 5 minutes after start.

Maybe CCP can donate a tournament ship as the prize (that you somehow have to get homeWhat?)

There is one EvE. Many people. Many lifestyles. WE are EvE

I'm happy to see some positive reactions. I will keep advertising and asking for suggestions for the next few days. Hopefully I can generate enough interest to make this thing materialize. I think it'd be a whole lot of fun.

Ok here goes..I know there might be some crap to pay for this but can you do me a favour?

Please explain what exactly a covert ops ship is?

Race, name, role, fittings etc.

I'm asking as lots of posts include stuff that's not known by everyone, and these forums being what they are...nobody dare ask!!

Go for it :-)

Welcome to EVE.
