Disclaimer: this is so alpha that it is a miracle when it runs without derping. And there is no manual.

TL;DR: it let's you create, edit and test your overview settings out of game.

Long version:

I always had problems with properly setting up my overview and I bet I am not alone. And as many other I imported overviews prepared by "those who can overview" and I just kind of customized them to my need but I was never sure if it really is working or not so when in doubt switch to "show all" tab and confirm that dude I am about to shoot is not my corpie (excluding times when shooting corpies is intended:)

So last weekend I had to setup my new account and once again I imported my "customized" overview but there was something not right so I started to fiddle with it and I got socket disconnected and I QQ, poured myself gin&tonic, smoke a cigarette and now I present to you Eve Online Overview Wizard.

How it works is kind of similar to in-game overview setting UI but I hope it's better :)
UI consists of few main parts:
- "Overview" tab with all profiles in overview file + additional node "UI & Brackets" for setting up column order and ship labels
- "Demo" tab will simulate how different objects would show up on your interview according to filters/states/color tags/backgrounds
- "Filters" tab contains all types of objects we can select + all states + ewar types.
- "Appearance" tab is well, appearance: color tags and backgrounds for states of objects
- "Test" tab is where you can add objects you want to test your overview settings with. Right now it works kind of like in-game overview so it doesn't say WHY your object doesn't show but this is a big feature on my list.

Especially I would love to hear about bugs in Demo tab - and I am sure there are derps in there because most of it is based on my understanding of how overview works and we already established that I am not the sharpest shiv on the block when it comes to this.

And yes, I know state lists are little moronic because you can set "at war with corp" and "in your corp" but I will work it out soon(-ish).

I changed download link from google drive to dedicated website, hopefully that will fix whatever problems old link was causing.

That was only temporary solution because I really really wanted to just get my app out there for people to point and laugh at it. And now I had a moment to register domain and upload barebone index.html to server so we are all good :)

Hmm, I'm not sure if I understand it correctly: you got an error at start? Could you make a screenshot and send it to me by email or twitter? I can speak French a little :)

Also check if there is a text file named "Exception..." in directory where you have exe in, maybe that error happened in one of very few places where I catch exceptions and log them :)

As for your suggestion: right now you can save all overview settings to xml file and import them in-game (you need to put file in My Documents\EVE\Overview folder). It's the same way you import all already available overview packs prepared by community members. There is no possibility to make game client to import them automatically and even if I would implement something like this it would be considered a violation of EULA and I definitely don't plan to get a ban.

You can also save lists from Appearance tab so your friends could load them and create their own overviews using same colors for tags and backgrounds as you. And this is not something Eve allows you to do. Of course in-game you still have to organize those lists manually as usual but in wizard it can be prepared by one person and used by many to ensure uniformity.

Oh, be aware that current version doesn't read or save overview tabs settings so if you will load overview and save it whole tabs section will get removed. I really should add code that at least preserves this section but for now please ALWAYS test my tool with files you have backup for.

also just noticed a issue ... on Test Object if i click ship it does not select all ships and all options remain greyed out

Is there any chance at app like this could be run via a website? This way one would one could edit the xml file/Overview settings via the site or and then save to xml for use in game?

I have no idea if something like this is at all possible, just asking as I'm on a Mac and having a 'web app' might circumvent OS issues.

Terrible interface and bugged to boot.
