Login Issues - 13/07/2014

I couldn't log in yesterday. When I found out about the login issues I decided to go outside, so I spent 4-5 hours out in the sun at a cafe with some friends. Laughs were had and there was much merriment. I then got back home and it was still broken. So I had to go play Assassin's Creed Black Flag and sail the high seas, plundering booty and listening to my crew sing sea shanties.

But then it was STILL not working, so I watched the World Cup finals. Ugh. I did not find those crying Argentinian children the least bit totally utterly hilarious. Then I played Padyday 2 with my girlfriend and two other friends and went to sleep.

All in all it was a pretty horrible day. Please don't mess up again in the future, CCP.

I just undocked for the first time and someone challenged me to a duel. Wat do?

After the downtime on 14/07/2014 I'm now experiencing this as well. Was fine before, but now it is affecting me.

Cannot log in via the launcher, (launcher appears, no account login / password boxes) can log in via the exe file.

Any workaround that bypasses the launcher is not supported by us, and is therefore not messaged officially.

If people want to fudge their clients to login, then they do so on their own initiative, and if they end up with a messed up or otherwise unusable client because they've bypassed normal login procedures, then it's out of our hands.

Expected a better response from a Community Manager than this.

You and I both know it's just a simple click to run the right file. No fudging. No messing about. No screwing around. No modifications necessary (per se).
Yes, I understand CCP's offfical stance, however, the message you're sending is pure disinformation. Unfortunately, the less IT savvy crowd will buy it hook, line and sinker.
Avoid telling tall tales and be candid but firm.

This issue highlights a weakness in the launcher. If this happens again after you've fully migrated to SSO, then you're going to get massive flak.
I hope the launcher product owner is paying attention.

So the front-end launcher connecting to the malfunctioning back-end caused people not being able to log in.

Why are people insisting that the front-end is broken when the back-end was not responding to connections because of large scale Internet disruption in the whole of EU last night?

There was one? When?
I disconnected once, but that were all issues I had.
Is Sol acting up again? Time would be right. (:

Krux has had issues in UK for the past 48 hours with small outages to one where they lost almost all connectivity to UK in total. I have not done any sniffing on what the launcher connects to, but they're big on advertisements and alike so I wouldn't be surprised that it had a massive impact on loads of services.

That's borderline evil and you're OK with that? I could understand if it was something beyond their control but this was not.

The point is that if the EXE is not hamstrung by this backend, then why is the official launcher choking on it? Something is wrong with how the frontend is architected.

Im still having issues.

it says:

Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong,

But my internet is working fine, I have checked ALL firewall settings, and have done everything possible to troubleshoot it. Yesterday I had the same issue but the game worked after i reinstalled it. However, the issue came back today and I would rather not reinstall the game again.

I have tried using the exe file, repairing the game files, but all of my efforts to deal with this have been fruitless.
