Anyone else having issues with probe scanning lately?

Hey dudes o/

Anybody having issues with probe scanning lately? Most of the time it's only a matter of a few well-placed scans and boom goes the fleet warp. My scans have had problems resolving themselves lately... everything's great until I get to around 8AU ... I place the probe constellation [like a boss] resize the scan range and scan ...... pinngggg pinngggg .... bloop. Nothing. Wtf?! So then I resize the scan bubbles for a larger scan range and yeah dude, plain as day, there goes the offending party, right where I thought they were. vOv

After several cycles of probing large and small only to realize that, yes, the ship is in fact there, but can't be scanned down ... I dunno man, wtf? I've been unable to scan down anything some days despite the system being full of fat-sig stuff... structures, marauders, cruisers etc. No dice.


... human error is certainly a possibility but I don't think that's the case in this instance.

It sounds like your R2 unit has a bad motivator.

Didn't they make the probing modules you fit in your mid slots active?

If that's the case, did you turn them on?

It's not always an issue... gets buggy for maybe 3-4d and then goes back to normal.

Launch probes

Anomaly

Set probes to 8 in Pinpoint
Get odd ring thing, move probes, scan again

Get dot, set to 4, scan
Get ball or another odd ring, move probes, scan

Get dot set to 2
Scan twice

Set to 1
Scan twice

Set to .5
Scan twice

Set to .25
Scan 3 times, get 100%

Warp to
Open code game interface,
clear the board,

Open can, get 30K worth of T1 salvage.

Log out in disgust.

Working as intended.

that sounds kinda awful ... although I'm not getting that far since I can't resolve ships past 8AU [sometimes]

Combat probes are different. I can't help there. I haven't used them in a long while but I know they were buggy and certain bonuses would get turned off every so often for random reasons.

You might try docking up, strip your fit and put the modules all back on. I can't promise it will help but it might.

I've tried docking, relogging, ... whining ... , filing support tickets etc "submit a bug" says the voice in the sky vOv

Just curious if you guys had ever encountered this, it really is super-noticeable.

Are you possibly seeing the "ghost" echoes? If only three probes hit a target, you will have two results. One of them is real and one isn't. The real one is whichever one is farther away from the center of your probe constellation.

Combat probes were working fine for me a couple days ago, although I just started at the 1AU size and didn't need to go through the narrowing-down process.

But really, something disappearing when you get closer is usually a filter issue.

Hopefully clearing your cache helps the issue. I have to clear mine fairly frequently, it's a great excuse to shoot blues on accident.

If it's disappearing after 8 AU and then reappears when larger again it's DEFINITELY a filter issue. Make sure new ship classes such as a prospect (which would be a new entry under "Expedition Frigate") is checked on your filters.

And remember, dscan uses the overview to filter things, but the scan probes don't.
