CCP has done steady work increasing game experience in EVE. Other large MMO game (I don't tell what) has downgraded their game over years without making any interesting upgrades. Their game started with strong game experience and then it went down. EVE started with average gaming experience and it's going up. CCP too has made downgrades to EVE but there is lots of more upgrades than downgrades so game level goes up.

This vision of EVE development gave me idea of creating long thread that tells upgrades, downgrades and disappointments in EVE development. Disappointments mean game feature that was supposed to be awesome but it was created to be dull/useless. This is thread for everyones vision about EVE game development. Below is my vision and next replys to topic can be yours.

Upgrades in EVE development over years:
+ Orca ship rocks big time.
+ Retribution bounty system is interesting. I use it alot.
+ Training queue helps to train lots of short skill runs.
+ Captain Quarters is excellent(!) alternative for ship spinning.
+ Jump clone timer is now less than 24 hours instead of exact 24 hours.
+ Market system has received quick link section.
+ Mobile depot allows you to refit your ship in space.
+ Eve online third base career blueprint researching will be released in Crius. Finally there are research slots available in stations (for higher price of course).
+ Bio text size has been increased.
+ CCP has developed EVE paid services (EVE store and NES store). I understand that development of EVE is not charity work and people earn their living with this. Better income for CCP means more game development in future.
+ Chance to get zoom of corporation and alliance logos. Also face zoom and full body view. (Yes I'm a spy!)
+ Carbon engine brought better customization for your capsuleer avatar.
+ Ingame killmail system was created. Lots of interesting links being shared in chat channels.
+ Ship fittings can now be saved and shared. Everyone can show their own über ship fitting.
+ Planetary industry was created. When you run low on ISK you can easily get more with this.
+ Player owned custom offices. These are even easy to deploy in space.
+ Deep space transports received major upgrade.
+ Replacing useless industrial/mining barge/exhumer ships with useful alternatives. Faction mining frigates were replaced by ORE mining frigates.
+ I haven't seen spammers on chat channels for long time now.
+ Corporation/alliance war history window is interesting.
+ Wormholes brought more chances for profits.
+ Battleships have gotten tools for better survivability. Battleships are expensive and that's why they should not be easy to catch.
+ Hiring economics experts brought us alot of interesting statistics of EVE. I think his show was the best one in the last fanfest. It is pity he left CCP.

Downgrades in EVE development over years:
- CCP is no longer making promotional videos or trailers. HTFU music video is one of the best music videos ever made anywhere.
- Jukebox was removed. Bad thing is that there is no ingame connection now between EVE music and EVE client.
- I can no longer view NPC standings of other capsuleers. (Yes I'm a spy!)
- Monocle and other stuff vanished when NEX store transformed into NES store and there was no mention in patch notes of removing this stuff.
- Aura voice has been removed? It was mainly in tutorial making funny comments. I would still like to hear "hahahaa you clumsy pilot" when I'm podkilled.
- Earlier there were funny trade good items released regularly about hot issues in EVE. I haven't seen new items lately. I'm still missing golden bullets trade good item (naturally it would be useless for fighting).
- Login screen was removed. Login screen had awesome music and animations.

Disappointments in EVE development over years:
- Dust 514 and EVE connection. I rarely even see mercenaries on chat channels.
- Establishments were not created.
- Warp flash. First I was excited about this but light flash is so small I can barely see it.
- Fleet finder is totally useless. First I tried to create public mining boost fleets but it didn't work out (people suspect trap when you have public fleet invitation open).

What I'm trying to say with this thread is that good work CCP! You go up others go down!

They still make trailers. 'Killing is just a means' is a recent music video.
I don't care about removal of pointless features
Probably they want to avoid the whole thousand dollar jeans thing and so dropped the silly expensive stuff. Re-releasing it for less'd just create more drama.

Yes DUST has been a big disappointment
Fleet finder is incredibly useful to corps and alliances

You forgot to mention that CCP removed the long,
epic blue ball explosions which could easily be recognized by everyone on grid ...

... with this horrible and embarassing fart barely anybody notices,
because it's nothing more than a short flash with no epicness whatsoever.

Isn't this what the subscription fee is supposed to do?

Fact of the matter is that game development is already paid for by salary to employed developers and other job titles at ccp.

Subscription fees pay for operation costs and any other costs that are incurred like land tax, comp'd meals (oh wait) and any other cost associated with ccp.

The rest of the money that is leftover goes to the private shareholders. CCP is not publicly traded yes?

Love the avatar change! Scipio has always looked like a living, breathing person you might run into on the street, but this iteration is a bit more on the dark side.

OP, features are added and removed routinely for a software project 11+ years in the making. You could easily make a similar list for Microsoft Office and argue that there have been upgrades and downgrades. If you really want to talk about EVE direction then make a thread about something specific and I think you will see more relevant contributions.

Your laundry list of features is very random and too broad.

I'd like to point out that truly public fleets are actually impossible. At a minimum the only people that can see the fleet have to be at least +5 standing to you.

Also the login screen was just shifted to the character select, no downgrade there.

I don't even want to know what you want to do when you read "I Whip My Slaves Back and Forth" Lol

Anyway, to the subject of the thread.

I've been playing for 8 years, so my list would probably require some space and time. But overall, I agree that the game itself is getting better with time.
