I am interested in buying a vargur for ratting but I don't know if the vargur is a good mission boat, compared to golem the vargur has less dope but more cap and golem has more dps and less cap, which is best, yet again I can't fly a golem but a vargur yes, is the vargur worth it?

I find a lot of people prefer the Macharial because tank is not the limiting factor in most ratting, it is how quickly you can clear the rats. Last I checked a Macharial is faster.

Things are only impossible until they are not.

Well yes. The Golem has probably been used a fair bit more throughout history so the accumulated data on previous engagements should be more for that than the Vargur.

My Vargur is my favorite level 4 mission ship at the moment.

Auto cannons work, or should I use 1400

AutoCannons as in my fit: 800mm Repeating Cannon II

With the rigs and tracking computers (drop 1 script for more range when needed = rarely), there is plenty of range for optimal DPS. NPC will approach you to 60 km or less. MWD quickly puts you in the middle of them, and you can easily tank everything.

Artillery is slow, tracks worse, and is lower DPS.

Won't I be using the vargur in bastion mode?

Golem has %100 interchangeable damage types without getting into falloff and tracking details. Generally missiles have been favored for PvE content for that reason. It doesn't make a huge difference in rauders though, they all kick ass. I'd go entirely on what ship you like looking at for hours on end.

vargur should work great for missions enter bastion next to your mobile tracktor unit stick 4 salvagers in the spare 4 high slots salvage the wrecks while making wrecks while MTU brings them to you and picks up the modules

Missiles are favoured because it allows the player to not have to engage his brain in regards to tracking and "magic" stuff like falloff, I highly doubt that the average raven user has enough reasoning power to go "selectable damage types is awesome". There's massive down sides to missiles (damage reduction regardless of vector, flight time meaning that you'll waste time and possibly volleys to make sure the target is dead, and of course NPC defender missiles).

The Vargur is a very strong performing ship with its instant damage, high dps, good tracking, zero cap weapons and good base omni resists (so it works everywhere and generally is less susceptible to ganking).

And a good range of selectable ammo / damage types as well. Projectile weapons are fine in PVE.

The Vargur is also vastly superior to the Golem on frigate heavy missions as it can one shot them even at fairly close range.

1400's are preference. less ammo, more 1-shoting rats.

but AC's are good too. Less Micro Required... and more paper DPS if you decide to come out of bastion mode and move towards a target.

I got bored of the Vargur though and moved to the ishtar. Less effort/ISK
