Now this is something that has been on my baldy head for a while. I cannot figure if anybody wondered of this one.
I don't know the current status of anything like this, so I'm just going to toss it it.

~Nutshell stuff:
- A dedicicated site in fashion of Eve Site: True stories of the First Decade for posting New Ship Ideas (as a frontrunner, for now) -- and also one for Writing: fanfiction/poems/haikus.

I think I can go with won't hurt anybody. Just needs the usual bit of forum moderation, but nothing CCP can't offer already with the current team. Giving you work for my money too! Twisted

The "Stories of the first decade" site of EVE/CCP has been out for a while.
- this is mostly focused on real experiences of EVE gamers. That all is cool of course. All the stuff of MoO, BoB etc etc.

Some of us writer guys did a backflip when we heard of a site like this, but were rather disappointed that is only for real-stories - at least from my standpoint it looks like it. I did not look into this one any further. I am not sure if anything change and/or if we are actually allowed to post fictional stories (which I seriously doubt we can).

However.
I would love to see a site and layout in similar fashion for both
- Fanfiction (which should be something easy to implement right next the true story).

People could debate and do all the fancy stuff this stie can offer.

This site layout is awesome, but it could be interesting to see something alike for,
- Feature & Ideas Discussion.

Let's focus on a F&I site layout, where capsuleers can post stuff there, debate and stuff like that.

I'll try to sum up why and such as well as I can.

F&I forums is not all too effective when it comes to overview. I know people will disagree, but searching for New -Ship-Threads is not easy. Especially since there is no master-tagging that is mandatory.

Anything disappears quite fast. It is also quite a mess since every thread is about every particular subject of EVE. I for one had suggested once that there should at least be subforums for General, Ships, Gameplay, Modules - so that it is easier to spot new ship ideas and such. The thread went down rather fast and there were denies, also I figured that they were just trolling with "no" without stating reasons as rules demand them.
Likewise, I also hoped for something like mandatory crossbox-option for taging threads with "[ship]" so that we can spot threads faster just by structure alone but hmm. Won't help much.

Nonetheless, let's just say there is a lot of clutter. That is normal for a forum that has over thousands of users, so here's some hope to improve the experience while bringing in some structure.

Why should we have a site instead of the forum?

No, it is not "instead". The F&I forum stays as it is. A few of the reasons of why we should have the site has been mentioned above.

Hypothetically, let's say Capsuleer Jane has a new ship idea, has some photoshop skills and a vivid mind to bring in some fancy shiny new ship. The site wizard gives her all the options like for the "True Stories of the First Decade" site, of course with more like being able to upload draft sketches, descriptions, author notes, imagined ship traits (bonuses/penalties) etc.

Other players can rate 'n' debate, hopefully adding in the necessity that one has to do something like 10chars; only with 50chars or such so that they can only rate if they also post a logical sentence or more.
One issue I only see: Said Capsuleer Jane can also toss this on F&I if she seeks more attention, which could lead back to forum cluttering but at least we'd have a link to an EVE site where she would have to have all those mandatory fields of "why this ship, bonuses, etc" filled - meaning we'd have a ship suggestion with basic details and descriptions.

This is imo difficult to do on the forums because you not only have a limit in characters, you also have to keep yourself short - and it is not always easy to organize.

"This will be abused, I'm sure of it!"

As anything else in EVE, in and outgame, but I think we can bring in some punishment if Jane misuses it to post ridiculous things. I'd say, if there is an addition option like [ ] comedy/lulship, she can fool around there, andit will not sure up on the main page and searches unless that person is looking ofr [x] comedy ships - just to cover that subject on comedy ideas.

Other than that, if you screw around with that site about bullcrap, you will get banned/punished, as how it is if you frakk around with and on the forums too much. I'm guessing this is likewise somewhat for the True-Stories eve site.

For now, I'd almost say that this EVE site could primarily be used for Ships (and perhaps Modules( first, as ships are quite the popular subject if you ignore the amount of nerf cloaking, hisec and local subjects.

General discussions and such can continue to exist of course here at F&I.
This is just an alternative so there can be more order and ways for capsuleers to present ideas.

I'd have to wonder a lot who could be "hurt" with this idea on this on other than the CCP staff, but what do you think?

An official site to post pics+ideas in nutshell cases. Maybe even get a unique link so you can read them ingame too and maybe also find more support. Stuff like that.

Using tablet, typoes are common and I'm not going to fix them all.
