Back to EVE after 4-5 years…

Well title says most of it.
I am out of EVE for a very long time, now decided to give a try. Untill then, I was an active player for 3-4 years.
While I was active, I was mainly PvPing (small gangs, rarely some big fleet fights, like tower bombardements etc). And I used to kill Guristas in Belts for my income. (also used a blockade runner, to do some sellings in JITA which was quite profitable. I slowly became inactive, mainly because of the time needed to devote to this game. It was virtually imposible to play if you had less than 2-3 hours available. (and if we were speaking fleetbattles, a whole night was not even enough)

My assets… are mostly gone. Some ready fitted BSs (some for PvE, some for PvPs, some for Fleet Battles, etc etc), t2 ships like command ships + marauders + HACs + Logistics are blocked in 0 space where I don’t have access anymore….

However I have some money to stand on my feet for a new start. I can buy some battleships or an some even more expensive ships, and have opened some lvl4 missions already.

The question is, what do I do now?

I was thinking of joining FW.
Seems like an easy and fast PvP when I want, while I still have the option to do PvE for sustaining my income.

Any thoughs?

I like to PvE when i have some free time, and dont want to make it too hardcore, but would also like to accasionally do some PvP and have fun.

I still have to learn a lot however, what is FW, how it is build in the other aspects of the game etc, and the mechanics have changed a lot. But this is not subject of this thead.

Faction Warfare is great. Better in a Corp, imo. Have a look here.

I also believe you can petition to have your stuff moved, if it's blocked in a 0.0 station you cannot access anymore.

I will check your link later,
I also greatly thank you for your idea of petitioning, i didnt think it was possible.

Most people i asked, said... its gone, forget it, or firesell them (sell them so much lower than their value to find buyers).
I will give it a try.

any other input is welcomed

Regards,

PS. I have a Machariel that used to be of tremendous value, (before t2 batteships were around, and ISK had more value back then, now seems inflation hit EVE) and now its no big deal. Anyway...

the machariel is still a great ship. the fact that more people can afford it does not make it any less good (at least not directly).

I should buy an Ishtar.

Bruce Deorum:

Welcome back to EVE. I know you said you prefer PVP, but you could probably jump into incursions with a properly fitted Machariel. You can make tons of ISK to recoup some assets and then fund whatever it is you prefer to do.

This is a great thread on incursions: Incursions Start here.

Good luck!

Thanx for the input.

Incursions seem also interesting, althought i must invest in some nice ships (i still wait for the petition to see if it is possible to move my assets back from 0.0 space...).

Question.

Can FW go along with Incursions?

I mean enlist in a FW corp, whil still doing from time to time incursions?

Thanx!

When you join Factional Warfare, you automatically become an enemy and are open to attack everywhere by players in the opposing Factions.

That wouldn't be good for an Incursion running fleet, especially if you're doing logistics.

Most Incursion runners get in a fleet which then moves around to various areas to run Incursions. Most fleets will want you to be available at all times and won't look favorably at someone who can compromise their entire fleet due to FW standing.

Course I could be wrong.

That is only when you are currently located in that same station, and CCP will only move you and the ship you are currently sitting in to the nearest low-sec.

You are correct.

If you are at war (and FW is technically just as a war-dec, just against the other faction) you will have a hard time in Incursion.

A. Logistics will not repair you, and you will need it, because if they do, they become suspect (free for all for 15 minutes). The fleet can't have that.

B. You are locked out of half of empire. If you enroll for Caldari, Gallente and Minmatar NPC Navy will hunt you in their high-sec systems.

Welcome back :)

I think what would be a good start would be to do those level 4 missions, obviously gets ship that will be able to handle them first. By doing these missions you will be able to get the rewards from it, which will make you even richer! While your doing this, you could be looking for a FW corp/ Tell them what you told us here and they should let you join them and get your started again :D

Good luck :)

iirc an incursion fleet will not invite you if you are already aligned to faction warfare....

I got reply from CCP for my petition.

I get to save my items from one station in 0 space.
However my items are spread out!

I was lucky enough that my machariel and my vargur are parked in the same station, so the answer is pretty obvious which station to save, but it doesnt mean that it is not without a price to pay. all ships following are fitted & rigged.
I also counted the implants, which i remember were of some value, but in 1-2 systems i have all my property, which if carefully counted, could be even more than the ships. I am talking about tons of stuff.
Anyway i'll try contracting them.

XXX-XXX system.
1 machariel
1 tempest
1 hurricane
1 stabber
1 vargur
1 mamoth

XXX-XXX system
1 domi
1 stabber
1 heavy t2 transport
1 vaga
1 ceptor

XXX-XXX system
2 Tempest
1 Maelstrom
2 prowler
2 cruiser,
1 stabber fleet issue
5-6 implants
4 small frigs
3 ceptor
20 rigs

XXX-XXX
1 tempest

:)

It is good news!

If FW draws fire, even in safe space, how do FW pilots make income? Missions are risky thus, right?

FW can net you really good money if your militia holds a higher tier. FW is definitely the way to go to get your piloting skills back in shape for little ISK risk. I am no longer a militiamen but that was one of my most enjoyable experiences in EVE. Good for newbros to get their feet wet.

Also, welcome back! o7

Uhm. By being in FW they make money.

They kill people for LP.
They orbit stuff for LP.
They run FW missions.

Plenty of ISK generating in FW. And the majority is done in frigates and cruisers.

risky does not mean impossible and 'drawing fire' does not mean you explode as soon as you undock. if you are smart, careful and patient, you can earn money just fine in faction warfare. of course, if you are not all three of these things, you may end up losing more than you earn.

I should buy an Ishtar.
