Could it be implemented that bump threads on topics can be deleted by the author? when your offering a services would be helpful to have all the junk bumps removed so replies from customers/relevent replies can be seen on page 1 of the topic and basically just keep the topic clean so potential customers can see the relevant replies/info without reading through 20 pages of bumps, maybe once a bump has been posted it can be deleted after 12/24hours. this will only apply to the authors posts on a topic not other peoples.

Thanks

And how exactly would it prevent you from deleting of valid posts with content you are not agreeing with?

Because its only author posts that can be deleted by the author, its common on alot of forums where the poster can delete his own posts, im not talking about deleting other peoples replies merely the authors

But then you could censor your own posts and misrepresent your position even more easily. You can already do it through editing to a limit extent, but at least is shows if it's been edited.

So you want to be able to bump your own posts back to the top of the page, possibly ahead of your competitors posts.... but then want to be able to delete those bump messages that you yourself posted, because they are an inconvenience to you?????

Well yeah they are an inconvenience especially when you have 30pages of bumps and someone has recommended your service on page 22 potential customers are not going to look through 22 pages of bumps

Isn't bumping against the rules ?

14. Bumping outside the EVE Marketplace and Alliance & Corporation Recruitment channels is prohibited.

The bumping of posts to alter the order of the thread listing on a forum is prohibited outside the EVE Marketplace and Alliance & Corporation Recruitment forum channels. Within the EVE Marketplace section of the forums, each forum category has its own rules regarding acceptable bumping for sales threads clearly listed in the stickies.

Similarly the Alliance & Corporation Recruitment channel also has its own rules. Please be aware that the rules vary from forum to forum. Please review the sticky threads in these forum channels for specific details.

And doesn't that make it this thread redundant ?

16. Redundant and re-posted threads will be locked.

As a courtesy to other forum users, please search to see if there is a thread already open on the topic you wish to discuss. If so, please place your comments there instead. Multiple threads on the same subject clutter up the forums needlessly, causing good feedback and ideas to be lost. Please keep discussions regarding a topic to a single thread.

--->

And: No, this post isn't, since I am making a valid point here. Unless of course you are talking primarily about the two exceptions.
And if you do, you could edit your 'bump' to either the link to the next valid post or refer to it in text, like:

Good point (just soemthing random I clicked at... )

or

See post # 15: good point.

Cheers
