EVE needs PvP arenas.

Title says it all.

If EVE does not start broadening its appeal, it will continue to stagnate and die.

Currently PvP in its true form is simply too hard to find. Vets know what i am talking about, too much unrelated bullshit everywhere.

CCP, stop rehashing same tired old things, and introduce something new and revolutionary - ARENAs.

As a bitter 10-year vet, I couldn't care less if the arenas are identical in mechanics to WOW. That was revolutionary and it works. Click button 'Join Queue' , select ship class and fitting, pay isk for entry, and youre in the next match in a nice PvP arena. Nice, easy, convenient. All the excitement of EVE without the usual bullshit. Every single multilayer game does it.

It brought thousands of players to other games. It will rejuvenate stale EVE as well.

Who cares if you lose a few hundred trolls/gankers in the process? You will bring in 10 times more in a month. Blizzard introduced arenas 2 years after launch of WoW, and player count went up by 200% over the next half a year or so. Their biggest problem was that WoW wasnt made for PvP and rebalancing was a pain. EVE does not have this problem.

Blizzard rakes in cash by the billions. CCP? Had to fire half its staff I heard recently?

Draw your own conclusions.

In my real-life job I perform business analysis. I drew my conclusions a long time ago. Evolve or wither and die.

Usual forum warriors, you can start flaming away about going back to WoW now. I look forward to growing my scammer/troll block list.

I'm kind of new, but isn't part of PvP in EVE, hunting and pinning down your prey? An arena eliminates a big part of the experience, I still suck at hunting people down, but I do enjoy it. I doubt I'm alone.

My own conclusion? You don't know jack "rude word for excrements in 4 letters".
So, no, CCP didn't fire half the staff. No, EVE will not be invigorated by what is the antithesis to it.
No, following the lead of Blizzard will not be successful, Blizzard is apparently best at what they do.
What CCP should do - IMO - is focus on what they have: The EVE universe, in particular the part of it that is active and generating revenue.

So no, troll, you're not a good business analyst. You failed to understand the product you were supposed to analyse.
Do your homework before doing business.

tell me what sounds better:

1) joining a 10 v 10 PvP match in your cynnabal of choice and jumping into it in 2 minutes....

or...

2) assemble a fleet of your mates, go hunting, hunt for an hour, find ppl that just dock up and smack, or POS up, or blob and/or cyno on you?


Frankly I dont have time to hunt for an hour only to discover people that either dock up or blob you with 10x the numbers. I want Option 1. Nice, easy convenient. And you still hav to pay for the fitting and ship you use, so you still have to rat or trade somewhere.

Citation needed. Your statement doesn't exclude the possibility that these games you mention had weaknesses in other areas which attributed to their decline.

Also OP sisi is your arena. Go there for nofucksgiven pvp. I have used it for years like that.

What eve needs is compelling reasons to undock without making people feeling like they're just meat being fed in to a grinder. And I'm referring to both carebears and nullsec in that sentence.

I'm going to bed now. Not interested in navel gazing any more today.

I've always thought PvP arenas:

1. Break immersion
2. Make for duller players

Yeah for the whole 50 people on SiSi, half of them doing their own ****, 10 in titans/supers, and other 5-10o afk. great PvP potential there.

You will find many/most of the people who disagree with PVP Arenas in EVE are very dedicated to the game and spend many hours a day playing, posting or reading about it.

I'm not trying to fault those people at all, but when you have the time to do that I'm sure searching for a fight for 1 hour is rewarding by the end.

Unfortunately there are many players who cannot do that, or are not willing to spend their 1 hour of leisure time warping around systems for 50 minutes of it. These players will many times supporting the idea of PVP Arenas.

IMO, I don't see the issue. If you want quick easy PVP, you can use the arenas with those who want the same. If you want to hunt down fleets/targets, you still have that option. Sure, less targets/fleets available likely... or perhaps more if a greater number of PVP players are retained as a result of not being mind-numbingly bored for the couple hours they had free.

EDIT: The Arenas could add a whole new element to the game in fact. There could be tournaments, custom rules, and spectator spots for locals to watch the fights from. People could place bets on winners, with all the scheming and cheating that would come from such gambling. There could be "regional champions" that can then face off against other regional champions for prizes or simple glory.

Falcon is wrong. Arenas wont take away from New Eden, they would add to it. Another subsection of players to be added to EVE - whats not to like.
