EVE Dying (Yet Again)

I spend a fair bit of time in the Character Bazaar and I'm seeing a disturbing trend of late.

Normally, there is about a 70/30 split between WTS and WTB. Right now it's over 90/10. It seems that everyone is trying to dump their characters and no one's buying.

It could be an outlier or it could be the PLEX prices. Or maybe even that everyone hates Crius. Or something that I haven't thought of, but one of you fine people will be sure to tell me.

In any case, I'll be keeping a close eye on this trend in the hopes of seeing a return to normal.

I'm inclined to think it may be Plex prices driving people to sell off seldom used alts - but what do I know.

A more distrubing trend is the "Female Avatar wanted" posts I keep seeing. Shocked

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

Power of two is on, so the last batch are due to sell around now. Always causes an oversupply for a few weeks. It does look as though people are selling off unused alts in response to Plex prices, but that's been going on a while. They aren't panic firesaling multiple characters by the looks of it so I'm not too concerned.

Summer is always a wierd period for character trades as there are spikes of activity. June-July is often slow (people on hols) then August-September people start frantically buying and posting WTBs - probably some of those are students who have spent the hols grinding up ISK.

I don´t know, but isn´t it because people realized it´s much more fun to start their very own character and live a story from the very beginning?

Who would like to buy character that is few years old. Or even months. It just wouldn´t be me.

Are the over-abundance of characters being offered for sale heavily weighted towards Indy alts ?

Also, "hard times" in the real world... not as much money for PLEX these days.

I honestly don't get the hubbub over the industry changes. they have been needed for years and years.

I don't think this shows anything really, but i'm not on the inside so what do I know

Ideas? Not really at this point.

Like I said, it could simply be an outlier. Or a perfect storm (plex/crius/summer/etc all at the same time)

I will be going over it in more detail when I get the chance since it is of some importance to me. It's where I make my ISKies. But for now I can't even make an educated guess. Just an observation. Though I can't recall having seen the buy/sell ratio so skewed before.

Part of it could be because usually after an expantion, now release, there is typically an influx of old/new players coming back to check it out. Some people may wan tto be the ground floor of selling chars to these ppl. I really dunno.
