Making Cloaking Devices Work with Charges

Good day to everyone, as new to 0.0 it has come to my attention of Campers roaming around and and harassing players in their home systems to stop all their activity in case of a hot drop.

To make things clear, i do not disagree about this happening, but there must be a way of countering it, (it is not possible for a ship to be in cloak forever, cloaking is supposed to be very energy consuming) so i suggest to make Cloaking Devices work with Charges and depending on the ship they consume more or less.

I think Physics and many players would agree on that

Thank you for your time.

Sure, is 1 nanite paste per 365 days good enough?

You're not the first nullbear to feel this way after finding out null is not completely safe. Google 'afk cloaking' for literally hundreds of other discussions on this topic.

pssst...your ship has a really big energy source. It be in the engine room. One day when when WIS is in place you may even see it. Till then...dig up star trek episodes if you need visuals of what it may look like.

And for posting in the wrong section and bringing up the same afk cloak thread ideas while at it its now a race to see if locked first. Or moved to F&I then locked after a few more bites lol.

You're right. Cloaking does consume a lot of energy.

That is precisely why you are unable to utilise any other modules while your cloaking device is active. The power saved is used to keep your active cloak.

The correct method for dealing with a single camper is :

Step 1 - have more than 1 system that you can rat in.

Step 2 - when one system is camped, move to the another system. Now the camper must run the gate - which reveals hull type (which is useful data) as it gates and may give you a chance to decloak and kill him whilst not flying your precious ratter, or the camper must uselessly camp an empty system.

IMO cloaking as it works today is a necessary part of balancing the current way that local works in nullsec.

This proposal and similar like it have been brought to the forum numerous times. So although it belongs in Features & Ideas Discussion and should be moved, I might as well lock it here.

Thread locked.

The rules:
16. Redundant and re-posted threads will be locked.

As a courtesy to other forum users, please search to see if there is a thread already open on the topic you wish to discuss. If so, please place your comments there instead. Multiple threads on the same subject clutter up the forums needlessly, causing good feedback and ideas to be lost. Please keep discussions regarding a topic to a single thread.
