Just a small set of icons, in a column along the right side of the ship names; click once on these icons to activate / board that ship.

Try double-clicking.

I am not sure that works when you are not in the hangar (unless you open a second window). I find myself, while just switching ships and wanting to stay in the cargo hold window, having to switch to the hangar first and then back to the cargo. That's 4 clicks instead of the one (or double in the list) she proposes.

Since I can't test it atm. I can't say for sure if I support it or not. If the double click works from wherever, than no, if it doesn't, than yes.

Ah, I think I see what you mean.

I usually have the inventory window open which lists my ships on the left as well as station container, etc.
It should work with one-click from there.

But yes, if you only have the "Cargo Hold" or "Open Floor Hanger" windows open then it wouldn't work.
Then again it should if you have the "Ship Hangar" window open.

Basically any window that lists the ships could have a column allowing for one-click ship boarding.

drap&drop works as well.

though not 100% sure if you need to leave ship first before you drag&drop
